then why do all the big djs push for votes so hard?
that one up in SF seem to be of high importance to quite a few of the SF djs.

didn't tijs request not to vote for him anymore? stop complaining. there are other DJs out there for you to glorify

so you're arguing that because some djs use polling as marketing tool to amplify their visibility and booking fees, the ranking system is somehow meaningful to their ability relative to others? ok...

I am not argueing that a high ranking on a poll with give rise to better quality music or DJ performances, i am just saying that the polls obviously DO mean jack , otherwise the top few hundred djs and their managers would not be pushing for votes every year.

it means money within the business, but to any casual observer with a head on their shoulders... ie: all of us, it means nothing. the fact that he's slipping in a poll doesn't mean he's slipping in his ability. for all anyone knows he could be getting better and playing more like, say phil k, who ranks like 200th or some , but is technically flawless.

Theres a lot of DJs who get by just fine without ever begging for a single vote or even reminding people about it.
