I haven't found Macs to be very stable at all. At least not compared to my PC. |
they arent as stable if your an idiot and load lots of software and go to sites that want you to install a bunch of when its unnecessary. |

| Exactly. Learn to use a PC properly and it'll be more stable than a mac. |

The reason that Mac's are mainly found in movies/tv shows etc is that unless the production is sponsored by another computer manufacturer most of the people on set use macs and so thats what is always around.
Lots of video editing in done on mac's Final Cut ETC.
Every studio I have ever worked at was Mac based Pro Tools frequently with Avid for voice over integration.
Pixar uses Mac Pro's the last time I talked to my friend who works there. In addition they use a lot of XServes and XRaids for storing their content.
The thing is that a lot of people are very comfortable working with their macs at home and at work. The Mac's tend to require less hassling to set up intially then the PC boxes plus the recording software runs very well on the Mac's.
Since its unix based it also tends to be very rock solid. I know XP is solid to, but what about Vista and what about when XP first came out. Microsoft isn't known for releasing product that is stable and reliable for the first couple of years. This is a major major problem for a studio that has to have reliability above all else. The apples tend to bring the operating system up to speed faster.
Again all this is my opinion based off working with studio heads and working in a few recording studios. |

to be fair, OS X had a ton of problems on first release too. so they arent immune either. even leopard had a bunch of problems that they promptly fixed. |

Yeah my point being the speed at which they were fixed. The thing is, is that it is a lot easier for apple to fix problems as it has 1 less variable than M$ft to deal with in that it knows all the hardware that it will be installed upon where as Microsoft does not. Plus apple has control over both hardware and software.
The whole debate is silly to me I was just pointing out why it tends to be the case one way or another.
The build quality on the Laptops and computers is also top notch which tends to help apple.
I personally own 2 apples, a Titanium Powerbooker and a 24" iMac quad core
and 2 PC's an older dell which i use to torrent and host my media files and a newer box for gaming.
I love certain things about each of them. |

i purposely didnt go into the personal reasons i dont like them because i didnt want to turn this into a debate of which is better. hence why i was so specific in what i said and left it at that. ;) |
