Boat appreciation thread

After university (when the money starts rolling in), I plan to take a couple of years of my life to live at sea on a small boat. This is something I've wanted to do for years, but never really had the opportunity or the money to do it. It's not just a silly dream, it's a serious plan. I've already started looking at boats that I like and fit within a reasonable price range ( < 200 000$). I have a friend who's also into this stuff and he also expressed an interest in buying a boat to live on, so we might cooperate on this in the future.

There was a boat show not too long ago in mtl where you could walk around and go in some boats. We spent a good 20 minutes inside this little fellow:

Azymut Bavaria 31 cruiser

Priced at around 119 000$, features two double bunks at opposite ends inside the cabin, a central cabin with a table, benches and kitchenette (featured on the above picture). Steering is on the upper deck. Not a bad little ship.

Now this is the one I really want:

Nauticat 38

Bigger rooms, a nice pilothouse (which is something I really want), and a lot of charm. It's even got space to stash rum and cigars.

I really don't like those big luxurious floating hotels with sleak aerodynamic designs. They just don't have soul. They gotta have a rugged raw trawler like design, with a nice wooden finish in the cabins and ropes hanging needlessly everywhere. ARRR!

Total failure!

Boats are way better then planes unless speed is your only concern.

i get sea sick so -1 for boats and +1 for planes which im used to

Planes are expensive and you can't live on them permanently. Therefore, fail.

Your getting sea sick is really a -1 to you rather then to boats.
