Recently have been churning many new wave songs...that wicked mix of punk and pop and loadsa synthesizers!!!
My favourites:
New Order - Temptation

New Order - Blue Monday

Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus

Simple Minds - Don't You Forget About Me

The Smiths - Please, Please, Please Let me get What I want

Modern English - Life's Rich Tapestry

I never liked 1980's stuff, but i don't mind ppl redoing songs as long as they put effort and don't over the original. Like atb's remix of olive's your not alone.....he deserved to be shot for that, same with pants and corset trying to redo felix's do you want my love, they wrecked it. I can see more artists remixing old songs in the near future since some of the releases have done really well.

Favorite song of all time for me is:

Erasure - Always

Now I know this came out early 90s, but it was sooo New Wave! Other then that, it would be anything Depeche Mode or the Cult.

I think DJ Doboy did this "klassic mix" with all these cheesy New Wave songs. If you want to just laugh at yourself and have those good memories, get it and listen. ahhaha, you'll want to get on that sweater dress and zipper ties and shirts. haha

"And we danced,
like a wave on the ocean romance...."

Oh sorry, got a bit carried away when I heard 80's.

Well the groups that spring to mind are early Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and Erasure.

New Wave rules. I was heavy in New Wave until dance music of today came along.

New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, The Smith, Yaz.

New Order - Bizzare Love Triangle
New Order - 1963 (1995 mix)
OMD - If You Leave
Duran Duran - Save A Prayer
New Order - Run
New Order - Regret

.. to name a few.

I think I have all their albums. I just got this really rare Duran Duran vinyl for 25 bucks :D

listened to the stuff a people have already mentioned: mode, erasure, omd, new order, psb, duran.

also the body-music/industrial stuff that was a pre-cursor to techno/trance: skinny puppy, nitzer ebb, front 242, ministry (note that puppy, etbb, and ministry's later stuff went towards rock and roll). listening now to early puppy tracks like "glass houses" and "assimilate", you can hear the trance in them.

for the dude who like erasure's "always", you should check out the remixes of "chorus" (1990 or 91). an early trance track for you : ).

Aaahh.. so many good remixes & remakes of the old classics.. still after all of them, my fav mix of New Order - Blue Monday is Hardfloor's remix. It keeps the feeling of the original, but just with some 303 tweaks and twists.:p :p Rob Searle's version comes close though.

Talla2XLC's new remake of Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence is a wonderful trance version.

There are so many more, but can't remember them right now..
