I despise them. There's a very good reason why radars exist, and if you want to speed, at least make sure you're paying attention to what's happening around you.
Good thing they're illegal here in Brazil... |
Thank god, people drive crazy in Brazil. |

| I'd go with either the Escort Passport 8500 or the Valentine One depending on what you want to spend. The V-One is definitely worth the money though. |

They use laser radar here in Toronto almost 90% of the time. Any suggestions? I hear the new detectors pic up from a distance, but how good is that in the city when they're right around the block? |
they aren't radar guns, just laser speed detectors. basically the officer has to aim it at your liscence plate in order to pick up your speed, the reason being is that the liscence plate is highly reflective and will bounce enough of the laser light back to the detector to establish your speed. easiest way around this is the vanity liscence plate protectors you buy from the MTO office. (the tinted ones) the laser light gets refracted off these andthe cops have a hell of a time trying to get a reading off them.
I got a ticket from a cop this year for "installing devices with the intent of circumventing speed detection" i took it to court and won when i showed my receipt from the MTO office.
the laser detectors are useless since when they do detect the laser, your already ed. |

In the GTA laser guns are used more
you should look into laser jammers
at work a guy has one installed (we drive to the job site everyday)
and how it works is that if a cop is tryin 2 laser you for your speed, the installed system jams the laser, and beeps loud to warn u
so u slow down and shutoff the jammer
If he is constantly jammed while tryin 2 laser you he will know whatsup and maybe still pull you over
It works great, it has saved this guy a few tickets already |

my point being they operate on two seperate technologies.
more often than not tho, its a bad idea to even bother with the detectors, cops now have equipment to detect them and if your caught with one..... the fine is pretty hefty.
Easiest way to avoid tickets, just dont exceed 15 kmph over the posted limit. if they try and nail you with a 15 over ticket and your not in a community safety zone (hospital, or school zone), you can argue it in court. By MTO and TAC guidelines, all roadways are designed to be driven at 20km above their posted limit as a minimum, most 400 series highways for example have horizontal and vertical curves that can be safely navigated at 2 to 3 times the posted limit (100 kmph) |

Thanks... I didn't need any detail when I use a street term or slang, but thanks for the heavily detailed explanation. |

A dinner tray graces your boot to provide "downforce"?
Your number plate says "GT RUSH" or something equivalent?
Just guesses, let me know if I'm wrong. |
Hmm, good try. Sorry though, I don't care for Honda or Toyota. I'm well aware of whp, fwd vs. rwd vs. awd vs. 4wd, have NEVER seen Fast & Furious, and would not feel the need to put an AEM licence plate/sticker/logo on my car.
You're not talking to a ricer...sorry. |
