just make sure to watch westjet's site. they have fare sales here and there and you can get a flight for around $400. otherwise your stuck spending $700USD!!! its cheaper to fly into detroit, cross the border and take the train to TO. you save a lot.

I'm actually going to make the drive....its about 6-7 hours which is shorter than some of the drives i made last year :p

Can I leave the passport at home and use my license+ to cross or is a passport finally required for land crossings?
Frenchie
Always use your Passport.

I'm sure as of January 2008 they made it the law to have to use the Passport anyway.

I'm fairly sure this applies to flying only. I'm almost certain that restrictions on driving across the border were extended until next year...

To the research machine!
Frenchie
Possibly. I'd still use it, though. Most I've crossed rather you use it anyway.

wrong. passport required as of 2007. mexico is the ONLY exemption. they did relax the restrictions for a period of time in 2007 to allow you to have APPLIED for a passport if going to mexico or canada while they caught up on issuing the passports. they have since caught up and the restrictions went back to normal. :D

The state department says otherwise ;)
