Hi all, I planned a spontaneous trip to London around the weekend of May 18th. I'd like to see some good Trance while I am over there. Can you tell me what the best things going on that weekend are?

I don't mind taveling a bit for a good show, but if I do, should I rent a car or take public transportation?

And if any of you UKTAs want to hang out with some American girls, you let me know...:D

I'll get back to you if I hear of anything special happening, but I'll just tell you now that if it involves travelling - don't go anywhere near a train station - it will only end in anger and tears.

Thanks - I guess I'll go get an international driver's lisence tommorrow then.

I heard Oakenfold is at Gatecrasher and Gods Kitchen that weekend (I haven't seen him yet). Are those places far from london and are those shows worth traveling to? I don't mind a bit of a drive to see good Trance - I drive well over an hour each way to get to NYC every weekend - but I would like to check out the scene in London just as much.

AMERICANS-I LOVE AMERICANS!!!!!!

Crasher do a monthly event at heaven in london goto www.gatecrasher.com to find out when. The rest of the clubs in london seem to be very housey with headstart, fabric, home and ministry of sound playing progressive style house.

Does it have to be the 18th, or can the date be flexible? The 18th seems like an odd date to visit. There's the huge festivals like Global Gathering in the Summer and Summer Sound System. Wouldn't you be better considering those?

Here are the listings this month for Gatecrasher at Republic in Sheffield. (check the UKTA locator map to see where the clubs are in relation to London)

These are regular clubnights, I'm not sure if there is anything big on that weekend. I don't think there are any one-off events on the 18th though.

I don't know a great deal about clubs in London. There seems to be a big house and garage scene there, but trance isn't as big. There are a good few underground events, but will be hard to find, and probably aren't what you're looking for.

You could always try Peach at the weekend, that is at the CAmden Palace. Dunno whats on there at the mo tho, as I don't regularly go, anyone else wanna post up info?

London pretty for trance, all u'll find is house and UK garage

Thanks so much! I will have to take a trip outside London, then, if Trance is better elsewhere. I was thinking about Godkitchen on the 17th because it seems closer?

Also, I know this is kind of a silly question, but are there strict dress codes over there? In New York, some clubs won't let me wear sneakers.

I knew that weekend wouldn't be the best but I was only able to take one week off from work for my graduation. I was thinking about coming in June for one of the festivals but the airline prices were too expensive for a weekend trip.

I don't know exactly, some of the more frequent city eventers will help you on this one.

Cheesy music clubs will expect you to dress smartly, but trance clubs couldn't care less.

Take a look at the pictures in the DuMonde thread. That kind of cyber wear is acceptable at Slinky, Godskitchen, Crasher, Promise, SugarShack, and basically any trance club.

Basically anything goes. I've seen people dressed up with a model computer over their head before.

For godskitchen, ANYTHING goes.

Airline prices? Where are you going from and to, I'll have a look around. Have you checked Ryanair, and Buzz airlines? They are very cheap and fly to Stansted. I am going to Berlin and back for £80 return with Buzz airlines, and that's in July.

The prices are increased in July, because over here that is when everyone finishes school and starts their holidays. However, Summer Sound System is in June, which with some cheap airlines is before they put up their prices.

Since I am coming from New York, the prices at the end of June are $600 or more. I can't take more than a day off work, so those airline prices are too expensive for a weekend trip.

I am thinking I will go to Gods Kitchen on the 17th then go to London the 18th. Is there anything to do in Birmingham during the day?

Birmingham is the next biggest CITY in the UK, so you'll find plenty to do, someone from nearer the area will hopefully post here for help!!!!!!

That's right thoough about the dress code, if your planning going somewhere big in which you are, they usually don't give a !

BTW ALEX!! What are the airline prices from up here down to STANSTED near NEW YEAR cos i need to know?? And maybe BUTTERFLY could get and idea of the price of flying around the UK.
