Well my first day is over, and i can honestly say that "i did it"... I almost tore my boyfriend's head off... but day one has almost come to an end!
I think that "celebrating successes" is a great idea. It could give me an incentive to stay smoke free.
Thanks guys!

CONGRATS!! lol if you last a month I'll buy you a drink next time at Guv :P

Good luck with it!

Just think of what you'll be able to do with the willpower you'll soon realise you have.

Cold turkey.
I decided to give up the nasty habit I started this past summer... on Sunday morning. It's now 24 hours later, and although I'm a bit cranky and have yelled at random onlookers, I feel good about the decision.

Well after 10+ years of smoking, the last two of which have been a pack-a-day habits, I've made the end of March my quit date. I've stopped before, but have always relapsed. The key is being really very prepared for it. I do believe that it really is a mental addiction, and it is the force of habit that you will have the most difficult time in breaking. Key is to keep yourself busy. Work out, that is also very important, as the endorphins and stress relief will really help.
Any time you have a craving, do something with yourself, enjoy your hobby, go outside, whatever, so long as you're not sitting idly by and thinking of that cigarette.

I found that when you are getting ready to quit it helps a lot to not smoke at times when it would be a habit to smoke.. if you always smoke before you get in the shower every moring, have a smoke after instead. If you always smoke while driving, don't smoke in the car anymore.. etc.

Good luck.

I quit successfully for 9 months (a contradictory sentence I suppose???) it all went to the second I landed in europe

The most important thing to remember
(this is what kept me sane)

Be aware that THE CRAVING WILL PASS.
You're sitting there going insane b/c you've been attacked by this mad craving and you're fidgeting and you look like a skitzo. You think that this feeling will not leave you until you go have that smoke. NOT TRUE - BE AWARE OF IT. Just remind yourself that, yes it's gonna suck for the next 30-45 mins... then it will pass. And you'll be fine. Just keep yourself effin busy for those 30-45 mins :toocool:
