i have a lot of respect for brett for doing it now. he's accomplished pretty much everything that he can. i don't see any reason for him to comeback. i was happy to see him have a good year and look like the old brett.

btw, i always love how they put up the stats about how many qb's the bears have had during favre's career. it's hilarious to hear some of the names.

goodbye to one of the top 5 quarterbacks of all time. he was definately one of the special quarterbacks that had "winner" written all over his face.

i think what the packers have at the moment for aaron rogers (hopefully they stick with the guy) is sufficient enough for a 10 win season. defense is stout, wide receivers are pretty damn good with driver and jennings, and they seem to have a legitimate running back with grant. have a good retirement brett, and hopefully green bay doesn't suffer the same misfortunes at quarterback and head coach like miami did when shula and marino retired.

Do it now because it will cost you 5 times less now than a few years from now.

It's been pretty nice (but sad) to hear all the interviews with current and former players, coaches, and other people in the industry talk about Favre's career.

I guess with all the nonsense surrounding baseball this year, and in general SportsCenters focus on off the field drama, it's just pretty nice to see basically everyone who's ever had anything to do with the game of football coming out and showing their respect.

I myself am still in a bit of shock. I'm really, really going to miss watching him play - I don't know that I've seen all that many other players who are remotely as fun to watch solely for their own excitement.

Favre was a 40 year old man with the enthusiasm of a 10 year old playing football at recess.

Top 10 MAYBE... Top 5? NO way!

Name all the quarterbacks who are better, go on. I'd love to see the list, because there aren't very many names that are going to argue against this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_...er_achievements

quote:

* Most AP NFL MVP awards: 3 (1995, 1996, 1997)[59]
* Most consecutive starts by a quarterback (NFL): 253[4] (275 including playoffs)
* Most wins by a starting quarterback (NFL) regular season career: 160[4] (Regular season record: 160-93)
* Most career passing touchdowns: 442 [60][61]
* Most career passing yards: 61,655[60]
* Most career pass completions: 5,377[62][4]
* Most career pass attempts: 8,758[4][3][63]
* Most career games with at least three touchdowns: 63 [46]

Sorry m8 - you can't argue numbers.

*cue you posting the interception record - predictable response is predictable after all.

Go on though - seriously, I'd love a good laugh. :)

God forbid we talk about Brett Favre on a thread that's dedicated to the retirement of Brett Favre! :eek:

God this pestilence on the NFL is finally gone. Maybe John Madden will actually be tolerable now.
