well i guess i know all about sound systems etc... i seem to keep making amplifiers die... home theatre or just regular stereo amplifiers that is.. thing is i'm not mixing all that loud... this is rather frustrating.. havent had a good mix in like a month *massages temples*

similar experiences?

what do u guys use?

and most importantly, recommendations?

onkyo 5.1 surround sound system

works great. i used to forget to turn off the reciever/amp and would be on for more than a day and it still works. gets pretty damn hot though.

home theater amps should do just fine, i was using an old pioneer one with the analogue vu meters for the longest time, until i got my jbl eon's (which i never use, mix in the headphones at home)

if you're blowing them up, it could be you're sending too hot a signal, keep your gains in acceptable levels and don't run your mixer into the reds and distorting the audio

loud signal doesn't fry , distorted signal does

no issues to speak of, whatsoever.

What about getting some powered monitors for your setup?

:conf:

I've got the Rokit 6's and a pair of the M-Audio Studiophile monitors and I like them both quite a bit.

2 Peavey PA speakers wired up to an RCA receiver.
Trance Nutter
Some big Sanyo system from the 60s or 70s. 4 speakers (have 2 on the floor, 2 on the table as monitors)

bloody big, bloody loud.

You can pick up similar ones at your local Cashies for pretty cheap (know my uncle sold one that was pretty much identical for about $40).
Stasis
Can't recommend Aperion speakers enough:

Paired with a nice Pioneer receiver, and you can't get much better without spending a ton more.
