Great games between 2002 - 2006

So I would like some recommendations for some great PC games that were made between these years. Just because after 2006 my pc starts to struggle with the games, and before 02 the graphics were sort of old school. This can be in any genre of games.
My recommendations for amazing games from that time period are:
Max Payne 2
Far Cry
Mafia
Freedom Fighters
So please share some titles that you believe are a must for any gamer. |

02-06 was easily the worst period ever for video games. Tons of bland WW2 shooter clones, unoriginal concepts, botched sequels and shallow titles, so it's pretty difficult to find decent titles from that era.
I would recommend;
KOTOR (the first one)
Half Life 2
Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory (though you will need a pretty good machine to run it) |

NOPE! I know you hate Halo, so let us not go in circles. :p I'll admit the net code was trash and therefore the online multiplayer suffered quite a bit, but I still loved it. I'm such a sucker.

Although it was nothing compared to the classic that is the original Red Alert, I'm also a sucker for C&C games. Yet to play C&C3 though, and I hear it was very average so I'm not in a hurry to try it out.

I like relatively simple RTS's that dont require hours of tutorials to discover how to do everything. Hate on Generals, Renegade, and 3 all you want, but Red Alert is a classic!
Oh and I may as well throw in Battlefield 1942 for 2002. Or 2003, forget which. Good times with that one. |

Then play starcraft - and soon starcraft 2. They're both designed to be very deep games, but probably the easiest to learn in the genre. You can learn how to play in five minutes, and you can spend ten years of your life playing it intensively and never come close to mastering it. |
