They abusing this power in Canada????

Looking at other countries I would say CANADA is getting it easy, infact VERY easy...

Eastern European cops demand bribes, beat you in your kidneys(cause there is no bruises from kidney beatings, thus you cant prove it unless you start pissing blood), also some of the cops are mad racist and they will discriminate agaisnt you and make you pay for nothing...

So please, Canadian cops are wussbags with an odd pig in there...

Point well taken, but lets not compare apples and oranges. There is a standard, law and ethics for this particular country, and when we as citizens breach this we should be reprehended because that is "fair", "just" etc..so for example when someone may get charged with a intoxication in public charge after leaving a bar ( i still struggle with this one) and then has a big mouth, they should be subject to the same kind of verbal assault, and then subject to an assault in which they cannot fight back??

Thats not just or ethical, thats criminal and contradictory to how our legal system and the officers of "peace" are to act by oath. Let the legal system do the damage not physical or mental abuse after being arraigned.

It'd not an eye for an eye, and thats what makes it most frustrating
not the fact that this person is doing their job and yes it may be stressful but no one cuffed, beat and harassed them to sign up for the job.

well you can take your assumptions and shove them up your ass.

my generalization is based on the fact that ive yet to meet an honest cop.

News flash. The world doesn't revolve around you.

Feel free to hang onto your dumb ass generalization. It only serves to amuse me.

Some of the most competent people I know and have worked with are cops

Like any other humans, you meet good and bad people. Cops included.

ditto.

there will *always* be a certain number who abuse the power and authority they have...but that's the exception not the norm.

the norm is that if you are respectful, you're treated with respect. Act like a punk or act like a "I know my rights, so you" type of arrogant, uncooperative or contemptuous prick and the police will treat you accordingly.

Often people who come from other countries, where cops are less 'public servant' and more 'I'm a dick with a gun' they bring that resentment and suspicious attitude here and that just contributes to the problem.

I actually get quite angry when people take a general " the police" attitude here. I always wonder if their attitude resulted from a poor experience with the police...or if it predated it and contributed to their poor experience in the first place.
