Fact is most people who have DJ, promoters, clubs, etc as their friends don't pay attention to bulletins because it's usually just full of promotions for the same event.

Ask around. You'll see it's true. The MySpace bulletin area has become a non-factor to most people when at one time it was a cool little thing to notify all your friends about something.

Nothing to look down upon, though...just it's killed the imporance of the bulletin board feature on MySpace.

At least you aren't blasting all your friends with private messages on MySpace to promote the event, too....I used to get those ALL THE TIME. Just pissed me off lol.

 :haha: I am always so glad that Dave T voices his opinions when he thorws events & DJ's so much. Obviously he clearly understands what it takes to make/have/host a successful event.

Hey now! I said I don't look down upon it...sheesh!!!

There's nothing wrong with doing it. Hell I've done it myself...I'm just saying in terms of using MySpace and it's bulletin board feature, it occurs SOOOO MUCH (as in, with tons and tons of events), that the point of the bulletin board is really lost.

It's like posting 20 threads a day on TA for it. Would you go to a board full of listings posted 20 times?

Or received 20 emails a day for the same event?

And it's not because one person is posting the event, it's because like FIFTY seem to be doing it bwaha...

In the end this is more about MySpace than the event posting, heh. Becuu

It's nothing to look down upon...more of a MySpace issue. No one can really argue against doing it because with so many events being posted in the same manner, you don't do it and your event can get lost, especially if you have a TON of friends. But, and I don't think anyoen can argue, after a few it's basically just SPAM. And that's why the MySpace bulletin board has lost its value. But all the promoters out there gotta do what you gotta to try to get noticed....just with MySpace, instead of people sitting there and complaining about how much it happens (across all events) we've just chosen to ignore the bulletin board. Really do wish MySpace would try to implement filters so it becomes a pain in the ass to post the same event over and over and really stop most people from doing it, so those who do continue to try can be reported and stopped.

My first post on it was just as a joke....second one was a bit serious, but it wasn't directed at an attack on this event being posted so much...if anyone takes it that way, I apologize and you can flick my ear as hard as you want on Friday (ok, not really). Just more of trying express how what was once a really cool feature on MySpace has been killed because of the vast majority of postings on are between few events that are duplicated a billion time.

As a bio of me was once written: I'm a [edited out] soldier with a loud mouth.

That's me. It can cause trouble sometims...but that's something I have to deal with.

BTW, if I do have one complaint...it's using eventvibe for tickets because it forces you to register and have them remember your CC info INCLUDING YOUR CVV (which is a huge risk) to buy them which is totally uncool.

I don't want my CC info stored anywhere if I can prevent it, ESPECIALLY my CVV#. My CC# has been stolen before through an etailer (a major one actually) that stored the # by hackers. Luckily nothing bad ever happened, but it sucked having to call up cancel the card adn get a new one.

For some reason my card keep getting declined, though I just bought something fine with another retailer and my bank account is nice and fine...(that's right, trying to buy a ticket...know this is an important event and want to be sure to support however I can!). Guess they don't want my money.

Anyhow, my two cents.

Thanks for the heads up on that. Ill email the owner to see exactly why this is.

Yeah please do...it's acting like it's not even processing. I hit the submit button to purcahse and it instantly says denied...

I'll try again later. Not a big deal if I have to pay at the door...

Either way, just want to be sure to do what I can to support on top of just being there.
