I was so psyched to go... but I lost my ticket on the way there, and I got too cheap to pay for another :whip: too bad it looks like it was a bunch of fun!

Did anyone actually make it?

I hear the show was pretty nuts. They played lots of new stuff, which is good to hear. The place stayed packed from early on in the night until the fire marshal shut the place down at about 3:45 'cause it was overcrowded :eyespop: .

If you like MSTRKRFT you should probably check out similar producers coming to town this month.

Para One and Surkin will be spinning at Studio B

as well Simian Mobile Disco will be playing on the 28th at The Museum of Natural History ... inside the planetarium!:wtf:
kadomony
might be seeing them tomorrow in philly

well i dont post alot [read: never] and most of you dont know me [read: none] but as it looks like im the only one who went i guess i'll write a bit. just know that ive not done a review before so whatever.

the venue as a whole is a nice space. dancefloor is definitely big enough make some moves. there are two bars, one smaller one near the front entrance one bigger one near the back near the bathrooms. across from the back bar is the lounge area with about a dozen or so couches to chill on. when coming in on the left side of the space is another small room, here they often have locals spin during bigger events. this room also has about a handful of couches to chill on. its hard to say where the front of the dancefloor is cause there is one dj booth between the front bar and side room where ive seen ppl spin but there is also a stage between the lounge area and front bar on the back right when your coming in that ive seen bands play and djs usually spin there on really packed nights, much like the night in question.

i got there around 12:45-1am. im not entirely sure who was spinning at this point, the place was PAAAAAACKED!!!! it was a major sweatbox and moving anywhere was crazy. the coatcheck line was longer than the one to get in!! def. looked like the other acts were tearing it up all night. MSTRKRFT came on sometime around 1:30ish. there set was great. they're known for high energy sets and they def. didn't fail to deliver on that front. i was glad to see much of the song selection was newer/stuff i hadn't heard from them before minus a handful of they're known songs/remixes. i suspect some tracks were ones not yet released off they're coming album, which i am salavating for, but i digress.

the only problem was apparently the club kept telling them to cut the show for some reason. at once point Jesse (1/2 of MSTRKRFT) came on the mic and said the party might get shut down. this happened about 2-3 times when there would say something to the crowd about the party ending and pretend to shut down like every 20 minutes or so after 3am. they did this again around 3:20am but jesse went on to say they were having fun spinning and were going to continue anyway.

i sent them a message on myspace asking wtf? and i got a response saying the club let in like 400 people over capacity and the fire marshal was threatening to shut up party down. unfortunately the party did end early, at 3:40ish which was a bit upsetting, i expected them to spin till at least 4. *shrugs*

that vid wasnt from this party, just fyi. that apparently is from a party with MSTRKRFT and Steve Aoki. Aoki's influence can be heard throughout that clip, most of those tracks i've heard at nearly every Aoki show i've been to. which is a testament to Steve Aoki as a dj...

here's a few vids from youtube even though these songs are OLD!! apparently no one takes video of the new sh*t! =T i should've bugged my roommate to lend me his camera!
