I'm tempted to ask, but I think the mystery of it will be more fun.
Any ETA? |
As soon as I find a particular track to get it started. It's a bit of a leftfield concept I've got planned. All I'll say is that it's inspired by my university course. |

Oh sweet that sounds fun. I just downloaded your '93 mix. The tracklist looks sick on that. dubnobasswithmyheadman was the first dance music album I ever bought. Can't wait for the new one. Something different but you have great taste and style. Some people just play tracks strung together. You're keepin it real with more of an artistry and idea behind it. Keep it up! |

| I kid you not, I cried tears of joy when it got to Bedrock - Set In Stone. I need this tune so badly, is it sold anywhere digitally (iTunes and Beatport don't have it)? |

I don't know about digital but your question made me look. Wasn't at hard to find records so I checked ebay. There were 3 auctions. I bought one lol. 25 dollars total with insurance shipping from seattle to cali...w00t! LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!!!
man...i'm so happy to own that song.
Thanks again system-j for making this mix. I sware for the past years I'd think about the oakenfold oslo global underground and how much I loved this song. and now I'll have my own lol. Sweet... |

Yeah, I own that Oakenfold mix but hadn't listened to it in years, and when I saw this set that J had posted I knew I had to download it.

| Wow, if I manage to get back into DJing in the next year, I really have to make the effort to toss epic house back on the platter. |

| Heh. Timely bump for this thread. I'm currently planning a third and final mix in this style to create the "Epic House Trilogy". Since this mix was largely about vocals the final mix will be predominantly instrumental, with the first mix being an even combination of the two, creating a good over-view of the spectrum. |

| No Other Love? Anomaly? Paladian Dawn? Shall they be passed over for unknown gems? |

I did consider No Other Love but I passed it over in favour of some of Blue Amazon's less famous work. Anomaly I don't really think of as epic house despite being made and played alongside all these tracks. I would love to have used Paladian Dawn but I don't have it and haven't found it. |

You're right that Anomaly isn't really epic house. I think of it more as the first progressive trance track, even though one could point to a dozen other candidates. I floated it mostly because it's a favorite.
Too bad I'm away from home; I have Paladian Dawn on vinyl and would gladly send you a copy. |

Bring it on! You just have to look at the unending interest in this thread, how people keep rediscovering it, the passion to which people respond and the amount of people who are desperate for more (especially from those who didn't know this music the first time around).Epic has a huge following and I think most of them don't even know it, we just have to tell them...........
No other love should be up for consideration, but I have a feeling you're going to go for one of the remixes "of then the rain falls" and you would make me incredibly happy if you ended the set with "the sun rising".
By the way, you might already know but in late 07, the legendary Que club reopened in Birmingham, which along with Tall Trees in Yarm, Camden Palace in London, cream in Sheffield, and the Hac, was one of the true birthplaces of Epic House.
Check this video of Rampling at the Que club recently for the Cream Classics night - the atmosphere proves it...
