I know 3 people who are really good at math...u know the type where u can show them any random math problem from Physics, Calculus, Differential Equations, and they can figure it out and get it correct w/o ever having seen a problem like that. They also have alot of mental problems and 1 of them has had a nervous breakdown and thought everyone he knew was out to get him and that we were informants for the FBI! yea sorry, I'm glad I'm not one of those.

Math sux. I took up to Calc 2, Survey of Calc, Physics 2, Analytical Chem, Statistics. didn't help me. Learning to speak better and manipulate people with words is much more effective and useful than figuring out math problems BEYOND knowing how to measure, do simple conversions and knowing both metric and ty ass American standard measuring system differences. Metric system is so much better though. :D |

your reasoning is exactly what set the american school system about 5 years back.
coming to this country at 11 years old I was already at the same level of math as my 14-15 counterparts (algebra II). although i was excited at the time, looking bad it was sad to see people three to four grades higher asking me questions about homework.
i also loved it how amazing it was that a football (read: soccer) player could be also good at math. it was staight up off krypton for people.
edit: i'm not saying it's for everyone but mathematics are usually the standard pathway into other sciences, especially physics. hence why scientists from europe and asia dominate. |
