| I like dive bars. I usually go to one with a few friends and we are friends with the bartenders too, so its like hangin out out with the whole group. Saturday nights the usually have a band too. I dont use them as places to pick up women, just a social thing between friends. |

I play at a bar on Wednesdays and maybe it's cos it's Miami,
but all they want is hip hop/ crunk/ punk rock
the crowd is mixed as hell: 20-somethings to a 50-something fat,
local white guy, that knows every word to 2Pac songs
so it's the crowd that drives the night at a bar..
oh yeah, and the bathroom sounds like mini-vacuums going off every 20 minutes :p |

i enjoy clubs, but bars bore me. lounges are great to go to with a few friends but id much rather go to a sushi bar.
oh and wtf is this "monkey bar" thing? |

Bars are for weak people? I didn't realize wanting to unwind and have a few drinks after a long day and shoot the proverbial breeze made me weak. Whatever, I'm weak then. Like L.E.N. said, I just go to socialize with friends.
In any event, how are you in Manhattan and can't find another decent bar? Dive bars, lounges, preppy bars, rooftop bars, complete holes, the bar your friend bartends at... Really if you can't find a decent bar that you enjoy in new york city maybe drinking and socializing just isn't for you. |
