Bars are there to go out with friends and have a good time, while still being able to talk to them, which is essentially the most important thing.
When was the last time you had a nice conversation in a club? I don't remember one because it was way too ing loud and was all about the music anyway.
I don't get some of you people. It's like saying, why go to a lounge bar in the middle of the day for a beer or a cafe for a coffee, when there's no music and nothing to do  |

Yeah I made an overgeneralization. But when you go to clubs/bars in Hollywood (where I live and too lazy to drive out) everyone is a ing tool. |

Lol it turns out that the only decent club in my city is the gay club. It's the only one that plays trance/house, and has neat lounge area where you can sit down after taking too many drugs and restabilize. But it is a gay club.
i guess venues cater to their own demographic as well. there are people that like the top-40 pop, hiphop, or rock, and they like to go out no less that we do. |

Does it play real house and trance, or old gay man circuit tribal top-40 house remixes? If you hear "it's britny bitch" or "do you know what it feels like for a girl" in any of the songs then it's not real house or trance. Where I live (Los Angelickmy) it seems like the straight clubs play the good house & trance music and the gay bars play all top-40 crap and house remixes. That's why I go to straight clubs. But they are straight clubs. :( |

hah there's a bar in my town called the monkey bar :p
but yeah, the bars around here generally suck
there's one or two cool ones, but i'm not that into them and i'd rather pay a load less for my drinks and have stuff to do, so i generally avoid them
i really never liked them |

It has its :wtf: nights, but it's mostly good, hard electronica. The straight clubs here are the ones that play silly remixes. I guess it's all fueled by demand; when it comes to anything of modern taste such as fashion or music, the province of Saskatchewan is pathetically out of touch. |

I pretty much only go to bars/pubs/lounges.
Like it's been said before, bars are all about socializing or going with friends, having a few beers, playing pool, foozball, poker leagues...
It's also worth noting that you have to do a little bit of searching before finding a good place. I find that most of the big popular bars are , noisy, have excessively loud top 40s music and crappy service. The best bars are hidden gems and rarely ever get packed. There's a pub in montreal I always go to - great service, free pool on mondays, poker and cheap drinks. Plus it's alot more fun once you become a regular and you get to know the staff. |

You should try the switch from Dj-ing in Toronto to working in Fort McMurray. Now THAT'S a culture shock... |

| Love going to bars, but i have been VERY into going to breweries. Live music, but you can always just step aside into where they make the beer or outside and chill out with less noise. Plus its awome when people take their dogs and people are grilling out brats and hotdogs for 4-5 dollars. |
