I went last night with no expectations at all. I thought the night was gonna suck even thought one of my favorite DJ's was spinning. was I WRONG! Aside from the tables on the dance floor not much has changed about the space. It looks more elegant and they totally ed the tunnel but not many changes to the overall layout. I have to say the sound was pretty impressive right in front of the DJ both. One thing I thought was pretty cool was the fact that there was no VIP area that you couldn't go to (well none that I saw.) Even though it's mostly bottle service you don't need a bottle to hang out with friends at their tables. By the time Hernan came on people were going where ever they wanted and dancing on everything!
Now on to Hernan. I haven't been owned in a long time! Hernan was dropping some of the sickest base driving bombs I've ever heard in a club before. Just when you thought he couldn't bring it up another notch he would completely blow your mind with the next track. His set is what NY was missing for so long......this was the pinnacle of what prog house should be in my mind. I didn't bother trying to keep a track list........the only tracks that I recognized were the few he played in his recent EM. Hopefully somebody got some good vids......but I didn't see many people I knew there at all. Nice meeting joxh (Josh) I know he got some good pics.......hope ya post them here. I would strongly suggest to anybody that's going to WMC to change your plans and go see Hernan..........he has always impressed me but I honestly don't think he could have been any better last night. Mixing, programming, track selection were all ing MINT!!!
I will def go back to Mansion when they bring in good talent. The staff was pretty laid back and even thought the dance floor is covered with tables......by the end of the night everybody is dancing on them anyways. lol |
