I went last night with no expectations at all. I thought the night was gonna suck even thought one of my favorite DJ's was spinning. was I WRONG! Aside from the tables on the dance floor not much has changed about the space. It looks more elegant and they totally ed the tunnel but not many changes to the overall layout. I have to say the sound was pretty impressive right in front of the DJ both. One thing I thought was pretty cool was the fact that there was no VIP area that you couldn't go to (well none that I saw.) Even though it's mostly bottle service you don't need a bottle to hang out with friends at their tables. By the time Hernan came on people were going where ever they wanted and dancing on everything!
Now on to Hernan. I haven't been owned in a long time! Hernan was dropping some of the sickest base driving bombs I've ever heard in a club before. Just when you thought he couldn't bring it up another notch he would completely blow your mind with the next track. His set is what NY was missing for so long......this was the pinnacle of what prog house should be in my mind. I didn't bother trying to keep a track list........the only tracks that I recognized were the few he played in his recent EM. Hopefully somebody got some good vids......but I didn't see many people I knew there at all. Nice meeting joxh (Josh) I know he got some good pics.......hope ya post them here. I would strongly suggest to anybody that's going to WMC to change your plans and go see Hernan..........he has always impressed me but I honestly don't think he could have been any better last night. Mixing, programming, track selection were all ing MINT!!!
I will def go back to Mansion when they bring in good talent. The staff was pretty laid back and even thought the dance floor is covered with tables......by the end of the night everybody is dancing on them anyways. lol |
Wait til you see Studio B..It's big enough as it is and they are adding a 400 capacity outside terrace..And its only two stops from Manhattan on the L Train.. |

I know I wasn't there, but the whole dancing on tables thing just doesn't seem interesting at all, I don't know how I could possibly enjoy it... There's too many venues like that in this city that to go to "Crobar" and have nowhere to dance but on tables would ruin the night in itself, no matter who's playing...
However, one place I WISH continued bringing in the talent would be that club Touch... The three times I went had everything from the best of the bottle scene (beautiful women and everyone was nicely dressed), but a dancefloor and sound system big enough to enjoy it!! I don't know why they switched right back to hip hop shortly after! |

It's not just dancing on tables. They have platforms on top / in between the couches that you can dance on also. As corny as that sounds it's actually pretty sweet looking down at all the eye candy in the club lol.....and you're also on the same level as the DJ. Just go check it out for yourself.....it's not as bad as it seems. ;) |

I saw a video of this event. Looks totally wierd compared to the original Crobar space. Like they transplanted a slice of Miami and put it in there.
Interested in checking it out when I get the chance, looks like fun. |
