MK's original post with the photos is cool to view and read, but I think I would be just slightly freaked if it happened to me. |

Me too. I can't do horror movies.
Right now, those demonic screams from these clips are running through my minds and I'm wondering if there are ghosts and demons in my basement right now (and I don't have any cross or holy water) lol |

I've always been one of the more skeptical folks out there, but I've seen and heard some things in the last ten years that didn't so much scare me, just made me wonder.
Things do *not* seem to stay fixed on my walls - Anyone who's visited my place knows I've got some important things to me up on the walls (be it art, vinyls, whatever). Every few months, I'll wake up and everything (without fail) is tilted - I've had to replace the frame to not only my No One On Earth vinyl, but a company excellence citation as well due to them leaping (yes.. leaping) off the wall - Although the vinyl came straight down, the citation landed broken three feet from the base of the wall.
Genuinely creepy stuff at times, as this once happened with a caribbean leather mask I have mounted on my wall and it woke me up, but luckily not my ex who was sleeping soundly beside me. I had a lot to drink that night and didn't really make sense of it until the morning and didn't really feel the need to bring it up (ps, hey honey - the place is haunted!).
No ghostly figures, whispers or other phenomena - Yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me! |

I wake up frightened, look at the clock and its 3 am exactly. Rooms have gotten colder, noises louder and a feeling I'm not alone. |
Just to elaborate on what afterhrsgurl mentioned, Dead Time or The Devil's / Witching Hour is basically a twist on when Christ supposedly died on the Cross, which was 3:00 in the afternoon - Thus making the spirit world more active in that hour.
Interesting stuff indeed! |

If you're a Christian, then don't you have to believe in supernatural powers (IE Holy Spirit) means you have to believe in ghosts and demons and ? |
You've made a logical error here, Yohan. The believe in one supernatural entity does not necessitate the belief in all supernatural entities. It is quite possible to believe in a god(s) and an afterlife without believing that the disembodied spirits of humans remain bound to the earth following death. Demons is a different question all-together for Christians, as the bible does make mention of them; however, one must interpret whether the demons are actual entities or a metaphore for something else (perhaps a persons undesireable or unholy impulses or desires). My religion does not really allow for ghosts as it takes a pretty firm position that there are only three streams to the afterlife... heaven, hell, or pergatory; however, none of these states of existance are clearly explained so I suppose it's possible that one could be earth-bound although the church's official position is that none of them are physical locations. Personally, I rule nothing out in this regard, there may be ghosts, people may be psychic, demons may possess people, etc.; however, I think if any of these things do occur they are far less common then the reports or claims of the same and most of those reports or claims are largely or wholly explainable through other means.
BTW, the Holy Spirit should not be considered a spirit that walks the earth in the same manner one would think of a ghost... it is the more accurately described as the spark of the devine that rests within all of us. |

I believe it's in 1 Kings where Saul goes to talk to a witch who communicates with the spirits...
Now whether this happened literally or not is up to debate, but this seems to strongly suggest to me that some sort of supernatural being (ie ghosts) may indeed exist |

It's 1 Samuel ch 28. You should also recall that Saul and the witch of endor are the only ones to whom the spirit is revealed, moreover, Samuel is a book that was compiled from records and other stories found in the court records of King David and as such can only be considered a second hand account at best. Whether the author of the orginal story actually witnessed the event or is recalling a story he was told is not clear; subsequently, the accuracy of the story must be questioned. Additionally, visions as brought about at the oracles in Greece have been explained by gases escaping from the ground in those locations, similarly, this tale takes place at a location of the witches choosing... it is not unreasonable that she would have chosen a location that would also induce hallucinations, which could explain the visions if they actually occured. I suppose my point here is that whether or not the spirit of Samuel actually appeared to Saul is definately in doubt. I would argue that this is a story that is best viewed as a morality tale woven into a historical event. |
