This is the part where I get you to run 15 hours' worth of tests for being generally useless to the rest of the team.

Let's play House.

I've been getting sicker for the last 10 days. Symptoms started as general dizziness, weakness, lack of concentration, mild loss of appetite. Few days pass, add a seriously runny nose. I went to the good doktor (needed assignment extension), she said it was a common flu and will pass if I dress warm, drink fluids, etc. On the contrary, I kept getting worse. More runny nose, plus a new symptom - a hacking cough. Plus I feel like falling asleep whenever wherever, despite getting 13 hours of sleep the night before. Mental tasks especially exert me. Went to the doctor again, he said that even though the blood labs are closed on weekends, there's a good possibility it's some form of pneumonia. That was yesterday. Today, I wake up and BAM! can't open my eyes - some snotty mucus that came out of my eyes in the middle of the night dried and stuck them shut :wtf: :wtf:! I don't know what that is, but I'm worried - am I getting better or still getting worse? Oh, and I've had no fever yet.

It's not lupus or sarcoidosis. Also, I don't live with other guys so the eye mucus is not cum.

Halp me!

Get some allegra, Loratadine. The usual, drink eight glasses of water (minimum) alot of vitamin C (Multi-vitamin ftw). Caffeine helps too, so drink a cup of coffee in the morning or two, no smoking (pot or cigs)

I'm guessing your body has a bacterial infection -- but this is not a diagnosis.

if he has a bacterial infection he needs to run over to the doctor so they can start him on antibiotic therapy. also needs to get labs done and possibly cultures to determine what exactly it is. if you're coughing up its likely pneumonia depending on the color of the sputum. if you're coughing up blood it could be tb, in that case stay the hell away from people. symptoms most likely fit pneumonia. get antibiotics. get plenty of rest - NOT EXERCISE like that other idiot said. and i'm pretty sure the doctor should have prescribed you some broad spectrum antibiotics regardless even before doing blood tests. the crusty in your eyes is probably d/t increased secretions and the body's response to infection.

you say you haven't had a fever? how do you know have you taken your temp? you may have a fever and not realized it.

any signs and symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing? chills? night sweats?

most important thing you can do now is get plenty of rest and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluid. if it gets worse of you start coughing up blood go to the ER.

I'm only a paramedic not a doctor, but I will say the symptoms are alarming. The symptoms have gotten worse, not better. It now has repiratory distress accompanying. The gunk in the eyes may be bacterial conjunctivitis, are your eyes swollen, puffy, red, itchy, burning?

Do you smoke? How much?
Do you drink?
Have you eaten anything out of the ordinary lately?
Do you have a history of upper respiratory tract infections?
Are you allergic to any kinds of food or medicine?
Have you had unprotected sex recently?

If it is conjuctivitis it could be linked to a more widespread infection. How are your ears and throat, any tenderness or aching? Does it hurt to swallow or drink fluids?

As for the dizzyness / disorientation this is more than likely just you being dehydrated from fighting the infection. Drink lots of water and electrolyte rich fluids, like gatorade or powerade, but focus mainly on water to stay out of minor hyperthermnic shock. Juices also help, especially OJ, get some vitamin C in you.

Sounds like It may be bacterial pneumonia, are you coughing up any mucous? What color is it? It may just be a nasty case of bronchitis, but better to be safe than sorry. Do you smoke? How often?

I have to agree with Bucke on this, you need to see a doctor. Go to the emergency room IMMEDIATLEY if you start having trouble breathing or suffer chest pains. regardless of their duration, or if you have a high persistent fever.

Try to take your temp too. If you can stomach it, tylenol will help break your fever and alleviate some of your discofort. Also a cool damp rag on the forehead may help as well. If the eye gunk isn't conjunctivitis, than it is a response to the infection. Are you lympth nodes swollen (neck, armpits, groin)? Any muscle spasms?

Either way you need to see a doctor asap, get full lab done and request a chest Xray (they'll probaby do that anyway from those symptoms). Whatever is wrong with you its kicking your ass. See a doc and avoid people till you are well. And don't listen to Tiesto.

Hope you feel better man, hope I helped.

By the way Bucke, you in the medical field? You seem pretty well rounded here
