Awesome!!

Of course I'm going to speak highly of my 800. It assists me excellently in mixing to a high standard. How can I possibly do anything other that praise it?!

Furthermore the thread starter is asking primarily about changing his mixer to an 800. I think he should do it.

Arguing over which is better is ing pointless. We like what we like, and in the end all we should EVER tell someone to do when they ask questions like these is to go out and try the gear themselves. Our opinions on gear pertain to what we do with it, not what someone else will. We can sit here and debate bull specifics all we want, but it's pointless.

lol, i love how people are all high and mighty when it comes to their mixer preferences. and how A&H heads are so quick to glare at anyone that thinks a Pio is good. specially after i heard George Stavropoulos, one of the premier club sound engineer in the world, who builds a mixer with sound that can all over an A&H and rivals those of the legendary oldschool mixers (Urei, Bozak, etc.) thinks the Pioneer DJM-800 design is probably the most well thought and laid out mixer out there, and has the best selection of features.

sound quality? yes, A&H is better. but you forget that in more than 9/10 systems that we all get to play on, the difference will be negligible. other than that, the rest on these mixers are down to preference. and while i defend Pio's, my current mixer of choice does happen to be a Xone.

and all you s that think rotary is superior to linear can right off. not everyone likes knobs over faders, nor do most good DJs really need it to be smooth mixers. fits your style better? fine. but it's not a "downgrade" if you go to linear from rotary.

Lol, well put my friend...well put!

Can you save that response for every A&H/Pio argument in the future? :toothless

Whoa, whoa, whoa there Ron - someone must not have gotten their daily meal at the Red Bull Music Academy :p

I do, however, love to read a post that essentially goes

Well put for a four year old acting like his father told him his doesn't stink, yes. For those of us who managed to graduate from preschool, however, it just sounds like whining.

just keep your mixer... :wtf:

well i think you can hook up an efx to the a&h, but it is a little tricky and unless you are having problems, couldn't you just use the crossfader for quick mixing? might cost you more selling and buying mixers than to just get an efx500 which shouldn't be that much on ebay.

Zild
Of course you don't need rotary faders to mix smoothly. You can do what I do and park the line faders, essentially using them as giant glorified on/off switches and then go on to mix using mainly the gain knobs with a little bit of EQ as needed. Not too much EQ is really ever needed though.

Definitely a downgrade in my eyes. Sorry I have my own opinion, going back into my hole again.

i have a djm800 and honestly i don't want nothing else. i really like how it's digital and has 61 channel midi that just looks wicked if you connect the mixer to say a laptop or pc and u see the knobs moving around and sliders.
the unit itself is solid. love how everything on it is placed, and the feel of it. can't ask for more.
not sure if you would get any more efx with the efx500 than the 800 already has? not sure though...i'm planning on buying the efx1000 in the near future.

honestly i give this mixer 2 thumbs up and then i run to my neighbor and cut off his thumbs..and we have 4 THUMBS UP!!! lol

the xone is nice, but i'm not the biggest fan of xone.
