Why is this scene so political?!?!?!?!?

Its gotten to a point where I am getting soo aggravated with everyones nonsense! This scene has gotten way to dam political in the sense of who'se playing what genre, or "how underground" it is...I mean dam, what ever happened to going out and listening to a DJ spin a great set? What ever happened to letting a dj do his job and pumping up a crowd...wether its fuccin minimal, main stream disco house, electro, what ever the fucc it is!! I saw some threads a little while ago about how David Guetta is a horrible DJ...This is not about him in any way shape or form, however I find it to be a good example of how some idiot mentioned " have fun going to that event to listen to cheese" I mean wtf dude if it was so much "cheese" then why does that guy PACK any house that he plays at? He does his job very well. He packs a venue, and rocks it till they fuccing close. What more do you want from a dj? I mean after all, every one is entitled to their own style...but then again people say that particular sound is "played out?" there is someone outthere who will always appreciate a sound no matter how long its been since its popular for the masses. I just think that there are a lot of people that are musically uneducated and need to learn something before they speak up pure B S

Don't worry mate, you're not alone on this.

I'm sure you'll get lots of replies from people who agree. Like myself.
In the end of the day when i'm asked what do you play/spin? I say whatever gets the crowd going. (Although i personally like progressive stuff)

I agree with you, it's whether the crowd are having a good time, that's what counts.

Half the time I think it's musically over-educated tbh... the people I see at clubs who know nothing about the music and don't even know which DJ is on are usually the ones having the best time!

Because we hate you, and your music. :whip:

On a serious note: I think it's just a trend. People tend to nag about just about anything these days. Music is just one of those things, I guess...

Because you're spending too much time listening to a vocal minority vs. a silent majority.

Because cheese sells the most records, and brings the biggest crowds.

Are you sure they aren't on E?

Define cheese in this industry. There are people out there who consider trance to be extremely cheesy, no matter how credible a track may sound in our ears.

Education is probably an expression I would refrain from using to describe narrowminded ignorance. You can be highly educated in a genre but be ignorant to others. Semantics I guess.

When all is said and done you will find that the majority of these bitter souls probably feel disapointment more often than those who just want to have a good time.

I wouldn't loose any sleep over it though. You are better off for knowing what they know not.

Cheers

Oh come on Nem. You know you can distinguish between cheese and solid music. Absolutely no reason to call others bitter because they can do the same.

I'd classify cheese as being the stuff you'd see on MTV DANCE or any TV station.
Again, a sweeping statement, but it's more an example.

It's cheese but you know it's Cheese. It doesn't bother me.

IMO, it bothers me more when you tell people (back in the day this is, because i personally believe EDM has come a long way in the last 5 years.. I suppose electro in a way has bridged the gap slightly) but a few years back in Dublin anyway, you'd tell people you were into 'Dance' Music, you wouldn't dare say trance, or progressive or anything to fancy, and you'd get a weird look from them.

A kind of 'Ughhh you do drugs' and have no taste in music.

Now though people, well people around me anyway know their music. They know what techno is, they know trance is uplifting/hands in the air/long appreciation moments.. House music being... look i don't have to go on.

The fact is (or should i say IMO) Genres have become a lot more known. Cheese is Cheese! And it has it's place. And so do all these other genres. I think people just get a bit elitist about the whole thing.

In the end of the day a Dj will play at your local venue and it's up to you to decide whether you want to go.

Who cares what their views are. It's your taste that matters to you. No one else. Finding people with similar tastes is fun but not the end all!

Now can i just say that the above is the biggest load of WAFFLE! i have ever produced on here :D I'm proud of myself lol..
Was going to delete it but it.

(goes back to Nick Warren's Essential Mix 1999... loving it hahaha)

I always wondered this myself too, but never really paid it too much mind. I always play what people want to hear...
