Do you produce this kind of stuff, then?
I'm getting back into the ambient and downtempo thing myself and really enjoying it. It seems so much less restrictive than making straight-ahead dance music. A lot more room for experimenting. |
i do indeed and that is exactly why i have been getting drawn to it more and more and more, it's virtually limitless. it's really exciting to work on because you don't need to really follow a formula, you can just blend so many different aspects of sound. it's a totally unshackled working environment.
i hope you produce more ambient stuff by the way, it's VERY good. i was actually wishing you posted it sooner, i would have used it without a doubt. |

Thanks. :)
I think I may try to do a full album of new material this time around. Might take a while with school and all, but I'm feeling like it would be worth the effort. |

I just listened to this one again for about the third time now - just so perfect for having on in the 7506's and doing homework. Everything is just so clear and full sounding - this is beautiful music without needing to be beaten over the head with it, which is something I don't think many people are very good at.
It's rare to hear stripped back music like this thought out so carefully, but the attention to detail really shows. I'd give just about anything to spend a day in your little studio (of which I have long been jealous :p) just to see how you go about doing what you do.
This is really something special right here - about as unique a sound as you'll find in this forum.

Well after the second awesome review from Rob I'm definitely downloading this one and listening before bed time. Thanks for the share |

The section from about 1:00:00 through the end is absolutely masterful - just a perfect build to some kind of "heavier" sounds (relative to the rest of the mix), and it just winds down for the last ten minutes or so into this kind of chilled out "goodbye."
Really can't say enough good things about this one - my favorite since J's "Spirit of 95" mix. |

I really couldn't have said it better. It's primarily been the only thing playing since I first listened to it, and I'm at the point where I feel that it's safe to say that this is perhaps the best set to come from these forums.

That's exactly why I find Ambient to be the only genre of music that I thoroughly enjoy producing. You're not stuck in this, "Oh, I have to have a 4/4 kick for this," or, "I have to keep the melody in some sort of 4/4 time signature." The simple fact that you can produce with a 0/0 time signature and essentially do whatever you want has always been inspirational. |

There has never been a better mix, for feeling exhausted whilr up all night writing an esasy on Mexican Studies, while enjoying a cup of coffee and a cigarette.
I had a massive ccreative burst when writing this. If i see you around, i'm buying you a beer.
Thanks.

| I put this mix on my ipod and headed to the bookstore to study this morning, accompanied by my Sony 7509's. Got through the entire thing and I can't say there was one moment that I didn't enjoy. It was perfect for studying to, very relaxing. Nice flow, some really sweet tracks- all of which I had never heard before. Look forward to future sets like this! |

You really should be quite proud of your efforts. If this were mine, I would be.
;)
I'd honestly have paid for this, which is more than I can say for 90% of sets/compilations/etc. that I hear. |

i actually didn't think anyone would really download it. it feels good to be proven wrong :p
i think the last few tracks went roughest, quite honestly it's kind of a bitch to eq on a touch-screen |

I'm intrigued by this mix but am an ignorant bastard with what it is going to sound like!
I'm prepared to be surprised... |
