AIDS WALK NYC: May 18th 2008

This year, my agency has formed a team for the AIDS walk NYC. Its a huge event held annually to benefit the Gay Men's Health Crisis in New York. Last year almost $7 million was raised. We will be walking 10km :) There are many celebrity teams involved, and last year over 100,000 walkers participated. :)

I know this is a club/music forum, but I would love to spread the word. Its really important to think about the issues that are affecting our society.

Any donations would be highly appreciated! Every penny counts towards finding a cure, as well as the prevention and education of the HIV/AIDS virus.

****You can form your own team, or sign up individually at: ****

www.AIDSWalk.net/newyork

Also, if you would like to donate to *our* agency's team (or sponsor ME!), go to the same link and follow these prompts to make a credit card donation DIRECTLY to to AIDS Walk NYC. (your money if safe!)

-2008 registered teams
-Our agnecy's name: YABC Christopher Columbus
-My name: Kelly Brewer

Please join us, its for a good cause, and its a ton of fun!!!

Actually Kelly I wanted to respond immediately but I wanted to have a think for a while and choose my words wisely..

Don't hate me for saying this and my opinion is probably due to lack of education on my part but..

Lemme think about this a while more but what I think I'm trying to say is that I'm very sympathetic towards kids and other people that got aids through 'innocent' ways and less sympathetic to those who caught it by not watching where they put their DICK..

yeah, stick it to them - people make mistakes and they should learn their lessons by enduring grueling loss of health and eventual death.

You're right - people do need to be more careful. I'm not sure the punishment fits the crime though...

haha The Gay men's crisis actually gives towards research involving the "spread" of HIV in ALL forms.

lol I laugh because my dad had the same reaction until I told him that the AIDS walk is money donated for a CURE of HIV/AIDS of **ALL** types, not just gang-banging gays.

A guy who used to work for me in Florida has HIV and his medication costs $30,000 a year..I honestly don't see much of that money going to other causes other than to their own..

Don't anyone call me homophobic either because I have lots of homo friends..

yeah for real. Dont even get me started on the politics of medications and such......I hear you. I walk because its actually an organization that I have looked into, and they donate the money to the cure (research), education and prevention, which is really where it should be going. some people really dont receive the correct info on the spread of the virus, and that alone is a major factor in its continuous spread.

Come to the school I work at and talk to a 20-year-old there....you will understand QUICKLY why lower-income-school-bound kids have such a high rate. its no joke, and is quite frankly very sad that this topic is never even touched on with these kids. And getting the KIDS (aka adults....they are college-aged) involved in the walk also teaches them something.
