some tree hugger just yelled at my house to turn the lights off... so i did! i wonder if they'll notice a difference on the grid.

Are your lights off?
cenik
No, but I plan to watch The 11th Hour soon.

I'm sitting in a dark room, but I normally am anyways, lol. I'm indifferent towards Earth Hour.

No...I don't like having sex in the dark. Plus we're leaving the appartment in a bit for the evening, so I figure the whole night with the lights being left off thereafter will make up the difference.
ÖZmözis
Oh, I thought we were supposed to turn on all the lights?

i believe i read somewhere that a display showing a greater number of black pixels vs. one displaying a greater number of white pixels consumes less energy. if so, thats clever on google's part !

We turned our lights off. It was kinda cool to have to do something other than watch TV or go online for once.
Dj Gracjan
ummm i dunno what i should do stop spinning on all this equipment or just turn off the lights and keep on spinning. or turn off everything?

I forgot, but was in the middle of on online exam for a class anyway and wouldn't have shut everything off.

sorry Earth Hour.

(although I use those low wattage CFC bulbs anyway, so whatever).

Google users in Canada will notice today that we "turned the lights out" on the Google.ca homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour. As to why we don't do this permanently - it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display. However, you can do something to reduce the energy consumption of your home PC by joining the Climate Savers Computing Initiative.

i was downtown at school so we went to check it out. nothing really special. the blackout was much cooler.

I turned out all the lights in the house, lit a few candles, and spent the hour having a very relaxing bath.
