for the record.
what everyone thinks, David Guetta on the terrace was THE BEST party I went to all week. Awesome crowd, Guetta kept it going for i think 7 hours with not a single bad track...hands down the most fun I've had in a looooong time.
AND the highlight of my trip was Hybrid live @ Ultra. ABSO-IN-LUTELY best set I've ever heard in my entire life--they ended with Radiohead "Everything in its Right Place" and I really thought I could just die right then and there a happy happy girl.
Positive--Space "F*CK YOU BAND*--easily would have racked up over $2000 had I paid for all of the drinks I got for free for myself and others the entire week. PLUS not having to wait in ANY LINES at all at Space/Parkwest/Cameo/Surfcomber = awesome, plus getting up on the terrace relatively easily was amazing at 6am. Had it not been for this band i don't think i would have caught nearly all of the shows i did/meet the people i did. Well worth $800.
Negatives?--lack of sleep caught up to me too quick. Especially come Saturday night when I blacked out and missed all of the last good parties. Cannot stress enough the need to have comfortable shoes that don't tear your feet up.
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone I met. Until next year... |

I was there. I know what you're talking about. Lots of strange clothing. We had a great time though, we got hooked up with free drinks the whole time and had these awesome beanbag seats which we only left in shifts. Too bad the boat didn't ing go anywhere (wtf?) |

This is my first venture back to the WMC forums since my ill-fated attempt to reach Miami for WMC this year, so I will share my story and then run away again in fear of being extremely jealous about the fun everyone had. Sorry for the long ass post but it needs to be archived, so here goes:
Planning started 4 months ago with a tentative decision to hit up WMC for the second year in a row. My friends and I all had a blast last year but had a better idea of what kind of financial commitement it would take to do it right. By mid January we had all come to the conclusion we couldnt afford to go and had pretty much scraped the idea. Well... that was until my roommate got wasted drunk one thursday night and bought himself and a friend roundtrip plane tickets for WMC as a bachelors party/wedding present deal. Well... in for a penny in for a pound. Not wanting him to have fun with us 3 more of us bought plane tickets while drunk on Super Bowl Sunday.
From there, hotels got reserved/cancelled and reserved again in an effort to find the best place. In doing so, my roommate actually came out of one hotel cancellation with twice as much money as he put into the reservation! (Still dont know where that one has ended). By now we are 6 deep for the trip and stoked as all hell. The weekend of March 15th I finalize my events schedule and pay $110 on wanttickets for my party passes etc...
Scroll forward to Friday March 21st, I get a group email from my roommate announcing the fact that one friend has bailed (the guy getting married) and wont be making it. 5 people are now going. That same day the other 4 people in our group try and get their Radio1 party tickets only to find them sold out. Cue dramatic music for the begninning of the end. This gets solved with the new wave of tickets released that Saturday/Sunday. Monday the 24th rolls around and another friend backs out after he found out the other guy isnt going. Now we are down to 4 people.
Scroll to Wednesday morning the 26th. My roommate leaves early AM for his 7am flight to Miami. We get a text message of him enjoying life at his first day party later that day. I leave work at noon and head from my work in Ventura, CA to Santa Barbara, CA (35miles) where I eat a quick lunch, run to the gym for 45 minutes and finish packing. I have arranged to meet my other friend at my house by 2:30 at the latest to begin the 120 mile trek to LAX for our 7pm flight to Vegas with a connection to Ft Lauderdale. Needless to say he doesnt pick me up until 3:15 and we arent leaving Santa Barbara until 3:30pm. We hit minor traffic on the way out and in a little over an hour we hit Sherman oaks and jump from the 101 to the dreaded 405. Road is clear until we hit the Wilshire district and it takes us over an hour to get from there to LAX (about 15 miles). We hit the terminal at 6:50pm, 15min before our flight. Obviously not making that one. Not only was that flight the last one to Vegas (no other way to make our connection) but they cant even get us out of LAX until 7am Thursday for the measly price of an additional $750 a piece. Our only option was a 1am flight that was almost full and we had to sit in ticketing for 3 hours to wait until 10pm to call and try and get on the flight.
To sum it all up, we never made it to WMC. My roommate had a hotel suite to himself for the week and pretty much flew solo the entire time. My buddy and I both wasted $350 on a flight, plus I lost the $300 for my part of the hotel, and $110 on event tickets (wanttickets wont refund me). The only good that came out of the experience was I was able to play in a poker tournament I was going to miss and won $1100 there and made most of my money back.
