i wasn't even going to wmc until friday night when my buddy calls me up and says "hey. let's go to miami. 720 on southwest." i was sufficiently drunk and stoned to think it was good idea. turns out it was great ing idea. we drove up to the airport from the club at like 5am saturday morning and i walk up to the ticket counter to buy a ticket for the next flight to miami. i don't know how i caught an even faster and earlier flight than the one my buddy reserved earlier that night that was now full, but yea ticket counter girl! our plane touched down at 7pm that saturday and we were all settled into diskodave's hotel in south beach by 8. surprise!
the first place we stopped at was rehab @ parkwest. the cover there was 120. that was the most horse 240 i ever spent, but we just landed a couple hours ago and i had no bearing for what was happening that night so i just followed the group. armin was alright, markus was pretty good, but the fact that a bunch of us were imprisoned in the basement for 4 hours because they oversold the club and wouldn't let anyone leave until the fire marshall upstairs did, that was a load of . i won't say anymore about that other than i should have taken been at lee burridge @ pawn shop til 7am instead. after committing the mistake in ibiza and again in miami, i will put it out there today that it will never, ever happen again. ever. armada and trance djs in general are better in sf than they are anywhere else, and even then they are just good nowadays. everywhere else i've been where they are, there's been a way better party elsewhere that i missed because of it. lee burrdidge @ pawn shop i'm sure would have made the trip PERFECT. never again.
after checking into a much sicker hotel (catalina beach club) we continued to get faded on the beach the next afternoon. i don't remember the name of the beach, but it was pretty nice... complete with mirrorless people of all shapes and sizes. that night i as we were club shopping, i was being a whiny bitch over where to go cause of my experience the night before, but we decided on mynt lounge cause this chic wanted to hear steve angello. turned out to be a really sick party, especially at the end when they turn on the house lights and everyone in the place is dancing on different levelled platforms in every direction practically falling over the edge jammin to the beats. ripper.
after that was over we faded more in the hotel room. this time we caught the same cab van that we took there. best cabbie ever. blasting a mnml/tribal house cd the whole way with the windows down. blasting down the streets! we caught some other ripper cabby back to space who let us pile into the car, drink, and smoke blunts. playing hip hop though... -_-
so we get to space sunday morning and hear it's 120 at the door, but my new friend who's apparently really good at getting her way with bouncers and bartenders gets up to the counter and gets the 5 of us in for 250, AND pays for it! and the cherry on top was hearing the cashier tell the guys behind us 100 each. it couldn't have happened any better to walk in on the most ripper party of the trip. space terrace miami on sunday morning... steve angello, cedric gervais and some other guy happened to be the ones playing when we got there, but other than a few repeat tracks they were playing way more rugged beats. the crowd there was intense. a gathering of rippers like no other. we had to leave the party early to reserve another night at the hotel before late checkout, but the grand finale to it all was perfect...this ripper doing roundhouse jump kicks off the platforms starts going into turbo combat mode and another ripper sees this and jump kick dances at him. the music, the shirtless fighters...it was like watching mortal combat on the space terrace. especially after the challenger tells me he was an actual retired thai kickboxer and starts hitting himself in the jaw to prove it to me. after he backs out of the contest defeated and as i'm laughing my ass off, the champion does this hysterical dance at me and flaps my arms up in the air at the end. that put me over the edge and we left before our was thrown out of the hotel. so after the last tear across town we decided to take it easy by destroying the hotel room and terrifying the entire floor, which was perfect because south beach ended up being dead that night anyway :toothless
all and all after saying for weeks that i'm not going, it took 6 blunts in a row to get me to the point of yes, and it all worked out except i forgot that i told no one i was going and my family thought i was dead by the time i checked my messages. pwn. every one of us who went missed our original flight home and they all spent about the same amount on airfare in the end so it wasn't that bad for me. i missed a connecting flight and ended up spending the night in dallas, which was sick cause my hotel had the fattest $23 ribeye steak. it was epic. |

It was great seeing you Rich but I was supprised as hell to see you at Armada night lol. I even saw you and just figured I was drunk and it was someone else until you came up to me.
But yeah, the being locked in the back room was bull. They closed it off just as I was going up the stairs when Armin came on and told me I was back there for the night and could not return to the main room. Needless to say I got pissed and they were threatening to kick me out. I told them no one told me that when I went back there and that my girlfriend and bar tab were in the front room. Finally after enough bitching, they let me out. But I think it was only because some other poor soul came to the back room. They were sending people still in line outside to see Ferry next door. |

It was totally boring this weekend. My weekend consisted of staying in LA, receiving text messages from everyone that was IN Miami, drinking at the bar by myself, trying to avoid cigarettes and trying to party up all weekend just to think to myself... "i don't need Miami"... :clown:
Well... that... I'm going to Miami next year. ;)

Thanks, had tons of fun after the night I spund, so glad it didn't rain this year. Will post some pix & video soon. You didn't missed much, 1wmc every year. |

Dixon was amazing at Aquabooty. He was tagging with Marcus Worgull and then Ame joined the fray. Very fun and off the beaten path set. Had the whole place rocking. |
