Special K/SLinky theres a difference between criticism and bashing, and its very obvious that it makes you feel better to bash other clubs that have a much better vibe than YOUR club. It is quite clear that you lovetheguv.com and that you get very defensive when anyone speaks harshly of it.. Sorry to put YOUR club down but thats just my opinion...
Yes we complain many times about Guv but believe me that complaining will stop the minute something better comes along...
No flame wars people! We are all about the muzik and love on this site so enough bashing and just vote on my little pole!! THANK YOU!!
PS> If bashing and flame wars start because of this thread i will just remove it period, i just want opinions thats all... |

Yea you see I look at what (not you persay but others on the board in general, NOT EVERYONE) people say and I see that as bashing as well.
And I dont mind if people say GUV sucks, or whatever! People can say whatever they want to, if we all agreed on everything then it would be a pretty boring world to live in. It honestly does not bother me, I have long since accepted the fact that not everyone will think alike and have the same views and tastes...I am just saying that people should not jump all over my back when what I say is comparable/or worse than what others say about the places I frequent. |

Well for that matter anyone who bashes is just plain out dumb. But just because some people bash doesn't mean that you should lower yourself to their level, you know what i mean?? kool..
Peace out man,

really, en guv sux! people there dont have vibe at all, and they just come there coz its the GUVERNMENT! its just stands for the name, coz its the biggest club in toronto  its just sad that mark oliver who is a great dj spins for that club, shame
i already said wat i had about guvernment and i just dont care anymore about it :) but dont say anything other clubs, coz really system & comfort zone are prolly the best clubs in toronto (musik wise and people) |
ok, you know how much I hate causing trouble :toothless but this just kills me. For months you people have been complaining about Guv and the sketchiness and now you say that Comfort Zone is the best club in Toronto?????? Are you out of your mind???
Comfort Zone IS BY FAR THEEEEE SKETCHIEST CLUB IN TOWN!!! Good f###ing lord! I honestly don't mind Systems and Comfort Zone because I just try to have a great time anywhere I go. I agree with you that the music at Comfort Zone is top notch but how can you bitch about the sketchiness of Guv and then reccomend Comfort Zone? Ridiculous!
For people who have never been to comfort zone, that place is f###king disgusting and the absolute filthiest club you will ever see. If you thought there were too many cracked out people at Guv, you ain't seen nothing yet! Before you sit down at a couch at CZ, you have to check it twice to make sure there are no seringes (spelling?) sticking out of your seat. I brought some friends there and they were absolutely disgusted by the place. Comfort Zone IS a -hole!
And I'm with Special K on this one. You think it's cool to bash Guv but when someone says something negative about the club you go to, then you get your panties tied in a wad. |

lol, the slant on this board and on tribe is just too funny!!!
I laugh it off, as do most other people i know, seriously!!!
why? because we know that the same people that complain about too much attitude at guv are the same ones that go to holes like system or your other dirty ratty rave holes...!!! |
Anyways, I see problems with the way everyone stereotypes - Tribe may have it's fair sure of "jaded" ravers but some of the discussions on there are interesting, but don't group Tranceaddict with that.
Some "ravers" see people that are all dressed up and what not that frequent places like Charlies'/Jai Bar/The Drink/etc and assume that they must not have musical knowledge based on how they dress.
Some of the "clubbers" look at the "ravers" as being in a 'phase' as you mentioned in another post having yet to 'grow out of' their partying habits. Where do you think some of this 'attitude' this thread is referring to comes from? - likely that. They look upon their experiences and when associating with the "raver" crowd assume they have 'progressed' past their level.
The uniqueness of the Guv is that it kind of meshes both crowds as the night goes on - and some people would rather not deal with that on their night out... I could personally care less since I've been going to guv since early 1997 and have seen it all and know what to expect.
I have friends that are "clubbers" and others that are "ravers" and some that fall in the middle. It's often interesting when some of the different groups come together for the same event.. Trust me, I hear arguments from both sides all the time, and each side's arguments have flaws.. I mean, if I take a "clubber" to an event and they're upset that there aren't enough 'hot chix' around to warrant the $25+ cover they paid then of course I echo their sentiments :toothless but I don't dwell on it as the focus of the event is the headlining DJ/producer and not what the ratio is on the dance floor. Then, there are some "raver" types who appreciate having all these women around then are upset when they see the "clubbers" in their scene taking their territory/dancing space away... It's a constant cycle of the same complaints...shiat.. some ppl need to grow a tougher skin and expect certain things as being commonplace to certain establishments.. if ya don't like it, don't go, it's that simple.
And in terms of attitude, I can still remember walking into some shop on Queen st in 1999 in some what maybe some of them considered "gino" attire and I was getting nasty stares... ******s.. It'd be ironic if some of them visit this site now.. :stongue:
So... just go out and have a good time partying whereever - as long as you're with a group of friends then that should make the night a lot more fun. |

What made you think that the renovations will bring a change of attitude or different people? I agree that it is an awful crowd, but I just won't stop partying because of that. I got enough of regular Saturdays, but I'll go see a special DJ there anytime.
And the bouncers  We got turned away at the door last night around 03:30 'cause the place apparently reached full capacity. I could just imagine how jammed it was inside. |
Ok, regarding all this bashing, I won't even bother throwing my 2 cents in, cuz it's hopeless... all you people bashing System for being dirty, well, guess what? It is dirty in that sense that you won't see that many dressed up people, it's decorated as someone's bassement (as someone mentioned it in another thread) and the crowd in there is mostly ravers (or at least I feel that way), but the vibe in there is amazing... there's always enough space to dance, if that is what you are looking for, not many cracked out people, and overall atmosphere is great. Even tho the entrance costs $20-25, which is a bit steep...
But then again, all you people bashing GUV for having a bad vibe, being full all the time, and what not, well guess what? The entrance costs only $10-15 (free if you're on the guestlist), there is a mixed crowd of ravers and dressed up clubbers, it is huge and looks cleaner and amazing, it has crazy sound system, lasers, decorations... but that's not what makes the club. You have to consider the crowd factor too, and that's where the club just pure sux (except sometimes, during special events). I mean, how the hell can you have a great time when you can't even move in there?!!! People are packed like sardines in there... and yeah, there are plenty of great, positive and outgoing people there too, but there are also even more people that are just mashed out of their mind even before they walk into that club. How can you have a great vibe when half of those people don't even know where they are at...
And it did suck last nite, big time... we got to the club around 2AM, and waited until 3AM in a line up of like 100 people... nobody got in for a whole hour, except on the guest list entrance, where the bouncers were letting only random people in every 5-10 minutes. A few things I noticed while waiting to get in were all the mashed people in the lineup, most of them being oriental too! No offence to you guys, but don't tell me the whole VIVA club is moving to the GUV! And bouncers at the door, how rude can you possibly en be? Holy ... where do they find these people? I mean, when a bouncer who wouldn't even have that job if it wasn't for us, the clientele, starts kicking people waiting in line off the premises, saying that they are not welcome there, and that they won't get in... what a hell? Yes, they did turn away quite a few people, including a few obviously mashed up ones, rude ones, and the few old ones too (sorry granny, you're not welcome in there!)... And from what I am hearing from all the people that were actually inside, they still packed the club to the max, and you could only stand in one spot and shake the head to the beat, cuz you couldn't dance at all for some time.
But then again, I should've known what to expect... I used to hit that club every single week, but I got pretty sick of the regular Saturdays lately, mostly due to the wrong type of crowd and atmosphere. But special events and Kool Haus events I won't be missing.
Also, if anyone was there for Judge Jules, on Wednesday, that is what the club should look like on Saturdays too - great atmosphere and vibe, full club but still with enough space to dance, and I haven't seen 4-5 cracked out persons in there the whole night! Wow... I guess the regular Joe Blow doesn't go out and gets mashed in the middle of the week.
All this typing has made me hungry, so I'm gonna go get some food... And you guys think of a good way to fix this whole sitation, but I don't think there is any! |

Is the Guv really filtering people out now? The only time I've ever seen Guv not letting someone in is when someone is dressed "too thuggy" . I still remember what the bouncer said, "no Rnb style in here..." LOL!! WTF??????:p Yeah the bouncers are rude as hell.
I can't imagine seeing a bouncer coming up to granny and telling her she's too old to come in, god..I would love to see that. I think the bouncers have been given instructions to filter out the crowd. Maybe they do visit these boards?
Also, the vibe on Wednesday nights have always been better every club you go to. Simply put, the crowd on Wednesdays are out to party. I've seriously been in a club before on a Wednesday night with only 10 people in the club and it turned out to be a very fun and memorable night, no joke. |
