Oh yeah! forgot what this thread was about!
:tongue2

I really enjoy Richie Hawtins set from demf '06. So many sick drops. That's what I want techno to be. That track magda is playing in that video is pretty tight. I do love the bass being dropped out and brought back in but IMO when it's done too often it can be really hard to just let loose in the music. It starts to interrupt. So I understand the person who didn't like it happening all the time. A nice balance and knowing when to do it is sweet. Is it me or is magda pretty new? If so...she's only gonna get better I guess.

Polish born minimal house/techno DJ who grew up in the USA. Associated with Richie Hawtin's Minus label. Magda began DJing in 1996.

Okay then...not new lol. I guess from what has been said on this thread she seems a bit insconsistent. Not that no one else is but a lot of the greats will always be on point. amirite?

Nah not really. "the greats" all have their off days, and now it seems more often than not the lesser known/younger DJs are really showing them up

Well...seems it would depend on who 'the greats' are. Seems multiple people have had expriences with magda being off at multiple events. So it seems less of an isolated 'off day'. seems...

I think it has more to do with them expecting something different from her or not enjoying her style than her being particularly "off"

Only issue I have with that is more than one person saying:

"she rocked at this event, but this other event she sucked". Sure that can have to do with the person as well...one night they may have been in a different mood than another. But there are too many of those same accounts for me to accept that. But...I don't know for sure either way so I'm just going off of what I've heard in this thread. Maybe she just has her own different moods and sometimes tries different things...which is a good thing.

Discussions like these are all relative assumptions and conjecture anyway.

Of varying degrees.

i'm sorry clovis, again maybe an isolated incident, but i don't consider her making my ears bleed turning up the gain to full blast various times as me not "enjoying her particular style". it would have been great though to have seen the magda i'm seeing in some of these vids.
