what do you think about soft music for starting or ending a set?

just that, I wanna know if do you like soft music for starting or ending a set...
Paul Van Dyk sometimes uses to do it, like in this set in Mexico:

I mean not only ballad, soft music.
I think that it makes the start or the end of the set more emotive.
Songs like the soft edit of "Martin Roth - Off the world" are very goods for starting a set... |

I think that lots of people use "ballad" as a synonym for "sentimental / nostalgic / romantic song." |
