I'm heading to NYC from Montreal this weekend, just bummed that Toronto's the only Canadian city on this megabus thing...

You are saving a ton of time...

At YTZ it takes 20 minutes to check in, pass through security and board the plane. Not to mention it is 5 minutes from Union station.

Something I might look into..

I am thinking of giving it a try on the way to NYC and then flying home.

Being that I am a frequent traveller it could be a huge saving...

Activate - what dates are you using to get $230/total? The cheapest I have found after taxes is around $310.

yeah it really does save time. Its about an hour and 20 minute flight....with an hour check-in ( the two hour international ). Plus a baggage claim wait of about 20-30 minutes. Cab to NYC is 30 minutes in moderate traffic or less.

The bus can take anywhere from 10-24 hours depending on how many stops/transfers.

The only difference is.....the Toronto airport is insanely expensive, and I tend to spend over $300 to fly to NYC in the summer. Flying outta b-lo is the best option: get a ride to b-lo and pay $69 one way to NYC on jet-blue.

Well, if you fly porter it does save time. That's the benefit of Porter.

The airport is downtown, and you don't have to be there 1.5 hours before the flight either!

This new route only stops at the Buffalo International Airport ($9/way) and NYC.

The average flight from YYZ to LGA is $300-$400.

I figure I will try it once and see how it goes.. :)

There is your problem.

Search YTZ (Toronto Island) to EWR (Newark).

Mid-week from $125 each way.

you still have to wait for customs on the bus.

porter flys out of the toronto island airport... no lines for anything, and if you live downtown it's minutes to get there. You also get complimentry snack food and drinks on porter(alcohol included!)

the cab from Newark to a state that doesn't suck hard is $80-$100 each way though and tears a hole in the profit margin vs. YYZ to LGA or JFK

YTZ>YYZ

EWR

You're nuts.

I take the AirTrain fro EWR to Penn Station all the time. It takes less time than a taxi and only costs $15.
