I've seen Battery, it's pretty awesome. I'm quite happy with Reason because you can get everything you need from it. Drums, I just just samples from somewhere else, it's got Dr.Rex, and NN19 and XT samplers, Arpeggiator. It just sounds too Reason like on it's own, but Rewired into a DAW it's ok.
Why would you think what you're doing is gay? Don't worry about what other people think. If your stuff is good, it's good, if it sucks it sucks, regardless of how you make it. I know a guy that's released quite a lot of stuff and he uses Fruity Loops / FL Studio. I thought that was a gay program like 6 years ago, but hell he's doing better than I am... So what can I say right. Some people can make really good form Garageband. Lol. |

what up bro. just heard both ur tracks. i can't say they are my style, too slow. i like music you can dance to. i suppose this would work well if you're high as a kite ;]
overall your sound is very good. you have the EQ down, with no noticeable muddy sounds or too much treble. i still have problems having too much bass in my tracks. |

Thanks Dude. that really puts things it to perspective.
i couldnt agree with you more btw i have tried over and over and over again to work with fruty loops and i can only produce cheeze. its not my can of beer so i stick with cubase. i guess to each his own rite?
i guess the only question i have is do you think im doing well for a begginer?
i mean your obviously a very talented dude and i just want to know if im doing it allrite? |

Yup you're doing great.
The ambient stuff isn't the easiest stuff to make. Good ambience and interesting atmosphere.
When I first started I was also making a lot of slow stuff that builds slowly. Then I started to think about whether anyone would want to play it. And I start to bring more energy into the stuff.
This is just my impression but I feel at our level, (haven't released anything yet), we want to keep people interested in hearing the whole song, so I try not to drag the intro for too long. |

paybacks a bitch: definitely chill, i would add some variety in the drum programming....ie some rolls, glitch, etc....i think it would help keep interest since the track is mellow and seems to linger a bit in the latter part.
electrik nunchuku: really has a acid/psych feel to it, don't think that was your intention, but think you should play with that....maybe do some stutter fx with those kung fu samples! i would watch out with that vintage tape saturation sound / light distortion that fills the background cuz it appears more as noise and might be a bit fatiquing if listening to it on a loudsystem, but I don't know, since it does fit the track. again, maybe some variety on the drums.
as for both, impressive with the overall sound considering you're not producing with monitors....good stuff |

Thanks Mr. Rogers!
Illumin,
The samples for Electrik Nunchucku came from a really old Chinese movie. Late 80's so that tape hiss is all over it. The intro, the kung fu-ey drum loop, the breakdown and the fill when the breakdown ends are all sampled from different parts of the movie. That's where all that tape saturation sound is from. I rolled off i think 14K and up, believe me it's better already haha. It was pretty bad.
My intention was to make something techy. I personally really like the last part of it. With the delayed synth, bassline added together it sounds nice.
A question for you guys:
Do either of these tracks have enough potential that I should rework them? I'm about to start something new.
Thanks. |

| the bass on payback is massive, youve done a good job controlling it and making it sound big, i imagine it would sound good on a big sound system. personally i feel it could have some more changes or embellishments over the length of the track. good clear mixing. |
