Discogs says all I have to do is add the desired vinyl to my card, then press "checkout", them the Seller should send detailed info on the total and payment method. what I don't see is any proof or at least a confirmation that the Seller has the desired vinyl. should I send a prior message via the Discogs messaging system or should I just press "checkout" and cross my fingers?

why would the seller list something he doesn't have? :conf:

he could've had it yesterday but he sold it overnight and today he doesn't have it already but it's still there, listed in Discogs marketplace for me to anxiously jerk off, bite nails and stay awake at night waiting for the "yes, i still have it" response

i think discogs automatically removes it from the marketplace once you've submitted your order. i could be wrong though. but there's the possibility that the seller has sold it elsewhere though, but that hasn't really got anything to do with discogs' system, more with the seller.

yes it does, except if the seller sold it elsewhere overnight. I found most of my rare records over discogs, but sometimes sellers list their records has near mint and they are clearly very good+.. and sometimes prices are very high, but just be patient and you'll find very good deals on there.

yeah. it's a decent place to buy from. but you gotta be careful. not trying to put the original poster off, just saying that it isn't necessarily quite the goldmine it might appear to be at first, especially if you like your records in mint of near mint condition. :)

oh..and I forgot to ask: does the complaint system on Paypal really work??? is their a slight possibility of getting your money back if you received a bad record or haven't received anything at all?:(

User your VISA or AMEX etc. that way you can always dispute the charge for non receipt of goods or services, this can be done even if you have tried to get Paypal to help, sadly it is paypal that has to pay via that way but hey, why should they offer a service and then not carry any responsiblity for it.

Cheers

but i'll have more experience with the complaint system soon though as i most likely have to file a complaint about the 2 records that the dude i ordered them from hasn't shipped. i'll report back on how it turns out if i remember. ;)

well, i filed the complaint. didn't take long for the guy to e-mail me and tell me he's very very sorry and that he forgot to send the records or something like that. he said he'll send them right away. we'll see how it turns out. i do find it interesting that he didn't reply any of my previous e-mails but replied almost immediately after i made the complaint. :p

I haven't had much trouble buying through Ebay. I mostly buy old CDs I missed out on, I used to buy vinyls too but end up finding it too unpractical (too much money for 2 tracks - 1 track/four mixes).

Say 1/5 times the product is much more used than I expected. And sometimes the CD cover gets damaged during the transport, which annoys the out of me. I've always received what I bought, though last time it took about 1,5 month for a CD from Germany to be delivered. He had a positive feedback of 99,3%. I had to sent 3 e-mails and file for a complain at Paypal before I got my CD. He never once replied nor did he send a note with the package.

Only bought on Discogs and GEMM once, went all well. I did notice that stuff is more expensive on Discogs compared to Ebay in general, could be just the stuff I'm interested in though. However, if you plan on buying more stuff, you could save on postage costs if you'll buy more from the same seller. I recently "discovered" how much help Discogs can be with that, it can show which seller has the most items you have in your wantlist :p

ok, my first steps (besides the orders i've made at HTFR and Chemical Records, which are already on their way :) )

had to bargain on the price of an extra-rare Maji Na Damu record (see PvD-PoD #1) till we closed the deal at 31,5 GBP:o
