People you remember from high school. (pg. 3)

Occasionally I run into a few down here in Milwaukee (half my graduating class went to Marquette, another 20% to UWM), but never even really in a context where I speak with them - they're just around.

I actually only still speak to one person I was friends with in high school, but he had been my best friend since 3rd grade - he's just one of those kids I can not see or talk to for weeks/months, yet when we find time to reconnect it's like we never missed a beat.

I try to avoid them as much as possible. And they me, I'm sure.

I don't talk to anyone from my high school. I have a couple on my Facebook, but they requested me, and that's essentially the only communication I've had with many of them in nearly 10 years.

all my highschool mates were morons, i have no intention to have contact with them whatsoever

Yup. I don't have many like that, but the few I do I really appreciate.

Im still friends with a handful of high school friends. Sometimes Ill look through my class on myspace to see what some are up to. One girl I went to school with is an MMA fighter now saw her on some A&E special. The girls I was scared to ask out are all pushing strollers. Im glad I moved to another city. Seems like the people that stayed got stuck in a rut and life hasnt changed.

most of the people i consider my closest friends are like that. most of them live far away so we don't get to see each other as often as i'd like.

i think i've gotten to a point in my life where most of my local friends that i talk to on a regular basis are the people i work with.

I hate seeing the people who were friends of a friend type people. Maybe they sat at the same lunch table or whatever, but now when I'm out and I see them its like we were best friends. They seem to always want my phone number so we can hang out. Its like, I didn't hang out with you when we would have contact nearly every day, why now? One of my good friends who I see often is "that guy" though, if were at a bar and he sees someone we went to school with he'll make a point to go over and chat them up, get there number and whatever, then come back and be like "why the would I wanna call him, I didn't even talk to him that much in high school."

Not now as I moved from Miami.. but whenever I was at work and random people from highschool would come in.. I was like yeaaaaaaaaaaah. You used to be all popular and now you're a fatty!!!!!!!!!

In my head of course.

But even on myspace I see so many people who are pregnant and fat. Amazing how fast people change.

edit- actually EVERYONE is pregnant or has had a baby. But I don't think I am at the stage (yet) where your friends start getting married little by little. Atleast none of my close friends are anywhere near that stage.

I sure hope not! My mom brought up the fact that 7 years I'll be 30. Like thanks mom!

it's because for a lot of them, high school is like the high point in their lives. people were dumb enough to think they were cool, and they associate anyone involved in the general surroundings with feelings of acceptance.

so even if they didn't give half a turd about you back then, seeing you reminds them of a time where being an idiotic irresponsible was OK and they were part of the 'in' crowd, so they'll seem to react nicely.

I hadn't thought of that, but that is a very good point. Seems that society pushes the idea that high school is supposed to be the 'best years of your life'. High school was pretty for me, and I'm very glad it's over.

As a matter of fact, I rather like the idea of having responsibilities, because with that also comes freedom and independance. I definately think my best years are ahead of me. My 30s and 40s are going to be a blast. I think I'll travel until I get arthritis.

Those are the truly best friends :) I have a friend like that as well... it's so nice to know that no matter how long we go without talking, she'll always be that good old friend.
