Booka Shade is making its only West Coast stop (besides the overpriced coachella) on the new tour Friday 25th @ Mezzanine!
It is Absolutely Horrible timing to be playing on the same night as Danny T and Sasha and Digweed, but they are all in on the West Coast because of Coachella this weekend...
I have been waiting 8 years, ever since i got into Electronica to see Danny Tenaglia spin one of his patented marathon sets.
I have seen Sasha 4 times and Digweed twice live, and it has been 4 years (summer 2004) since i saw the duo spin together at Dance Valley in Amsterdam.
I say all this to show just how much i did want to see these other acts and to further emphasize just how amazing this Booka Shade show will be.
Especially since there are only 3 US stops on the 2008 tour, Denver tonight, SF tommorow and Coachella this weekend, the rest are all in canada europe and asia.
They are one of the best live acts out there. Check out this video of them playing their most famous single Body Language:
Their DJ KICKS mix (2007) cd WON DJ Magazines' and MIXMAG's compilation of the year.
This is the Sun and the Neon Light world Tour:
The album doesnt release until may 26th, but the two Vinyl Singles that are going to be released (Charlotte and City Tales) are on their myspace page. Check it out...
I hope some of you will catch this act since it wont be the same once they become too big for their own good.
PS the song attached is another one of their singles which i have heard alot of people playing at random clubs throughout the years...

they were here twice last year, its not their debut :) might stop by after S&D in hopes that M.A.N.D.Y. closes out the night :D

My plans exactly...then to End Up because I know Friday won't be enough for me

i'm going to both s&d and get physical since they are only 2 blocks away, and possibly dt afterwards if i have it in me. i'm hoping booka shade closes out the night even though i like their movements album more than their recent sun and the neon lights album. the best is when they play the hard rugged beats they aren't known for such as the second track in this vid...
still looking for an id on that track too, one of the best thursday night parties ever

do you have the new cd? or are you just referring to teh couple songs that are out?
i would tend to agree for sure. but it seems that most live acts start out hard and then turn softer.
like for example:
INfected Mushroom - saw them in 2003 in toronto back when it was a two man live act and it was hard funky and crazy good. and i saw them at 1015 back in september or whenever it was and the new full band thing was still sick but not nearly as psychadelic as the old two man group, and now there 9th in the world?
nu nrg - first sets back in the hey day of trance are still legendary like the orgasmatron sets in 2001 and 2002. and i saw them in the first us appearance at the arc in 2003 and it was half hard stuff and half the newer more melodical chiller stuff... their first cd was all softer stuff and less hardcore uplifting trance...
is the same thing happening to booka?

i have the 14-track artist album. i dunno that it's softer, just not as good. it doesn't have that same awesome chemistry of ambience, melody and bounce that movements did...
