Yup, got my first job interview arranged on Monday. :)
If I get it, I'm going to do telephoning job for insurance company.
That'll be my first job ever (I'm 18), right now I plan to do it during the summer, but maybe I'll keep it when I start going to college. :D
What are your first job experiences? |

Started at a video store at age 17. Worked on and off for 3 years while going to school. Eventually climbed my way up to assistant manager, but have quit since then.
Absolutely loved the job, most of my co-workers were film nuts who were great people to talk to, not to mention the customers themselves. I didn't work at a Blockbuster, but rather an independent video store that strived to carry the under-the-radar movies that nobody really knows about (not to mention porn :) ), so even the people coming in to shop would chat up a good conversation, since only serious film nuts and actual interesting people were the ones you were dealing with.
I also did a small stint at Goodwill and I did freelance yardwork/landscaping around my old neighborhood.
I think this summer I'm painting houses. Climbing the corporate ladder. |

Chances are you'll be sick of it long before that. |

Sounds interesting. :)
I can imagine myself doing that. :D
Not really a film nut, but I like movies. Who doesn't, anyway? :p

If the pay is good, who knows? :)
You have some experience with similar job?
I can stick to it for at least 3-4 months I hope, since the college year starts in October... |

No, personally I don't even bother applying for telephone jobs because I know I won't last a week there. They're usually stressful, tedious and not very rewarding. I've known people who have lasted them, so who knows, maybe you will. |

| get ready to deal with a LOT of really stupid people that will just baffle your mind. a friend works in the call center of a local bank, and she had a caller who's car broke down. she was calling to see if the bank "turned off" the car because she was late on her car loan payment. |

I did the phone thing before. While the job overall sucked, it paid decent and it did have good benefits.
Now that I am an instructor, life is soooo much easier. Its like teaching at college, but without the attitude from bitchy students. |

Can't think of any who don't. I would imagine a person who doesn't would be boring or uncreative. :p

Restaurant... never again.
I helped open a restaurant (Rosa Mexicano) and we had so many people and so understaff i worked a maximum of 81 hours 1 week. usually 70 or 68.
i would make about 900 bucks every 2 weeks but it was just too much. I was really good (hahhaha but its a restaurant so its not like it matters) so one day i was like "i work too much and i want to choose my own hours or ill leave."
i ended up working mondays and tuesdays only the last month. win! |
