I love psytrance... Ive been listening to it for about 7 or 8 years now, and it is responsible for introducing me into more mainstream trance. At the same time, I do get tired of listening to it for too long, unless it is from a good producer, like Yahel, MWNN, Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Deviant Electronics.....
Never tried it with drugs though (not into that kinda stuff really), but my friends have shroomed with Psytrance, and tell me that they saw the most amazing brain movies while listening. |

If it's the same or almost the same as goa: GREAT...I've been to this wicked party once with this music aaaalllll night long... men that was nice! :) ..... I can imagine if you do that while on dope.... WOW...but no, I don't do that |

Human Blue - Dream Creator
It has one of the best build up peaks i have ever heard (5 mins in or so)....so smooth. When i listen to it i just zone out. |

psy-trance and goa are two names for the same 303-infested trance. psy-trance is short for psychadelic trance, which came onto the scene in india (goa region, west india) during the early-'90s beach parties where acid was the drug of choice. all that layered 303 work on the synths really makes a trip, well, more trippy. :)
i really like it! :D |

| astral projection and infected mushroom are pretty good examples of psy-trance. pick up any of their tracks, live sets, or albums. it should be easy to find, as they're pretty popular. :) |

Goa was on a roll back in the early nineties or so(I think)The whole genre was filled with ecstatic songs packed with frenzied melodies and twisted acid lines, and people like Man With No Name and Astral Projection tore places up all over the world. That's why people like Oakey and Danny Rampling played this type of music back then.
But nowadays,psy-trance is very boring way too often. For some incomprehensible reason, the majority of the psy-trance producers have committed creative suicide,by adopting a INCREDIBLY boring and monotonous sound. It's probably some of these tracks that you psy-trance haters have heard. But there are still some producers out there that manage to create creative and likeable tracks.People like Tristan,Deedrah,Infected Mushroom,GMS and Fünf D are still doing some great work.Check out the compilation "Unusual Suspects vol.1" on Twisted Records for examples of what I mean.
And then we of course have the studio alchemist Simon Posford aka Hallucinogen aka Shpongle aka a whole bunch of other aliases. This man is viewed as probably THE best psy-trance producer in history.
If you come over a good psy-trance production nowadays, don't be surprised of Simon has had his hands on it in some way.
Personally,I wish I was there to experience the whole Goa-boom.This genre has an immense potential to blow your mind. All those wicked FX that the producers used back then are a mind-altering experience.(a good example is "LSD" by Hallucinogen.Try listening to that one loud in your headphones.I swear, those acidlines made my brain feel like it was lying in a frying pan:wtf: ) Too bad I got into electronic music too late for that.
Whew, that was a bit of info. But where are all the psy-trance headz that REALLY know about this stuff?Skywarp?d_sub?Help us out here! |
