After seeing someone streaming their playing of the game online, I've really considered buying an xbox and GTA rather than a midi controller I've been saving for. It's that damn good. |
Go PS3...better graphics and a blue ray player. Though if online capability is what u want, 360. The PS3 game lineup is finally getting better. |

Counting the hours until I can go track down my copy.
Sam, here's the breakdown for using GTA4 as a console purchasing choice:
If you want a Blu-Ray player, slightly better graphics, and next to no load times, then buy a PS3.
If you want the opportunity to have downloadable content for GTA4 in the future (which R* is claiming will be the size of the entire game of San Andreas - whatever that means), and competitive, achievement based online play, go with a 360.
I don't think you can go wrong either way - just different strokes to move the world, you know? |

Also, this (take it with a grain of salt until you've played):

Earlier today we broke the news that some Grand Theft Auto IV gamers were having problems with the game on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
For them, the game was freezing up during the introductory cut-scene, something that neither I nor Mike experienced during our time with the game on both systems.
Rockstar declined to comment on the issue officially, so I went to the phone and called up Rockstar Support to see what they had to say about the problem.
A very friendly, and obviously unhappy, fellow answered the phone who, after thanking me for not yelling at him and apologizing profusely for the problem, spilled quite a bit of beans on the issue:
The man told me that the problem is apparently only effecting the 60 GB version of the Playstation 3, but that it didn't matter than my particular console was a launch console (Yes, I told a little white lie and said my copy was locking up.) He said the problem is not across the board for the 60GB PS3s but rather only impacts some, so their tech folks are working around the clock to try and figure out what is causing the issue.
He did ask me to make sure that my harddrive wasn't full and that I had the latest firmware update, but confessed that that really isn't what's causing most of the problem. He also said that the Xbox 360 is having the "exact same problem," which has further stumped their tech folks.
I asked him if wiping the harddrive and reinstalling the PS3 version would help, as seen on the PS forums, he said I could try but that he hadn't heard of it helping a single person.
He ended the call by saying that they really have no idea when a fix will be coming because they can't figure out what is exactly causing the problem and then once more apologized.
"I feel terrible about this."
If only more support folks were as empathetic and genuinely concerned about the problems their customers are going through. |

Happening with a lot of high profile releases right now - but as is mentioned above, no idea how widespread a problem it is for now, so we'll see. |

| PS3 version also has online, and you don't have to pay $50 per year for P2P gaming either. |

| I thought PS3 load times were atrocious. Or is this just for GTA4? |

It doesn't have downloadable content and if you think Home is going to be free forever you're dreaming.

Games that have large hard drive installs don't suffer from the load time issues. |

What does Home have to do with this?
(And Home will be free, although certain content in Home might not be) |

How can u be so sure? You can't start charging for a service that was free initially, or it will fail for sure. Obviously they can charge for certain items and such, but thats it. |

50 dollars a year holy . How the does one pay 50 dollars a year. Seriously, if you can't afford 50 dollars a year you shouldn't be playing video games. |

Sure you can, just because it's not in monthly fees doesn't mean there won't be charges - Sony's online service is barely running right now, there's little content to it, so of course there isn't going to be a charge. Once Home and the new PSN arrive (which was supposed to be last week, and is now open ended), expect drastic changes in how Sony's online service changes.
I just don't believe Sony's service, once fully up and running, will be all together that different from Microsoft's. |
