Where do you guys in the States buy your samples?

Hey addicts,

I'm just curious to know who you guys here in the US buy your drum and FX sample collections from? I have several of the Vengeance CDs (Club vols I & II, Sound FX, House vol.I, etc.) and I like many of their single-shots, but I'm looking for some of the newer sample sets from Vengeance and/or other companies (e.g., Ueberschall, etc.). The problem is, I cannot find any suppliers for these samples here in the States. Back when I ordered my Vengeance CDs from Dolphin (UK), they took 6 weeks to arrive, came from Japan (wtf?), and the CD cases looked like they had been run over by a train when they arrived.

Any suggestions? I'm really just interested in single-shots, but if they also contain some loops, that's OK - seems pretty standard nowadays. Downloadable sets would also be fine, as long as they're high quality and NOT pirated.

Loopmasters stuff is usually downloadable.

http://www.loopmasters.com/

Though i'm not sure it's exactly what you want.

have you tried making "new" kicks out of the ones you've already got? layering and combining kicks is really the way to go. what i do is find a kick with good attack and cut off all the lows and layer it over a pure sine wave kick that i made from scratch. sounds really good....

I've collected so many percussion samples from this forum and the net, that I don't need to buy any. There's a lot of free samples on the net. I guess if you want to ensure quality, you can buy samples. The ones I've gotten for free are great though. I use synths to make FX.

Drumazon, Nepheton, Waldorf Attack

All champions! I never use samples anymore unless its like strange african drums and stuff

vipzone and ebay packs (you obviously need to know the sellers rep) but I've bought some AMAZING sf2's from both ebay and vipzone, just that ebay is always cheaper..

in my experience VIP Zone samples are an absolute joke. Like someone previously said, www.bigfishaudio.com are the best place to buy in the US. They are the main sample library distributor in the states.

If you are just looking for single hit drums, try "Drums Overkill". This is far far superior to the vengeance stuff, which is all just sampled from other peoples records.

Let's see some hard, solid evidence for this. I keep hearing this, and people say "such and such a kick obviously sounds like it was ripped from such and such a track".

I just want solid proof. Either this is true or it isn't. The way Manuel Schleis describes the process of creating the Vengeance samples, it isn't true, so naturally I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say.
