Don't stick x-mas lights up for goodness sakes. It's just, so... so nasty!
Oil-burners or candles in coloured glasses work just as well and he might be able to pass himself off being a little better than the average uni student :p
(Plus Mrs Lira will like them :)) |

Oh not for a whole house. Maybe for one room...such as a gaming room or somethin...:) |

I read 'Corean' and I thought this thread was gonna be about starcraft.

No IKEA here, unfortunately :(
And I guess you're right, Jenny. As the "anchor", I was thinking of using this very simple table:

Since it's both the dining room and my home office (the bedroom would be too cluttered if I put a table there). And I'd match the rest of the furniture with this "anchoring table"... for example, the bookshelves:

...the chairs...

... and even the silverware. I'd leave the beige and the blue for accessories and stuff, to make it less dark. I want it to look sober and masculine, if you know what I mean. Think of your stereotypical Capricorn: that would be me :p
But, maybe Lilith is right: dark furniture in such a light room might look weird, and painting the walls will probably make it look even smaller...
... hmmm...

It can work, you just need some neutral shades in there like a pale grey and a darker coloured floor, but you don't... so, don't! :)
(Don't feel bad about no Ikea either :p) |

What if I lay some dark rugs on the floor? |

| Just stick to the lighter colours, it'll make the place look a lot more fresh and open. |

| you need more dirt and huge spiders everywhere if you want it to look korean...also the smell of grease and cabbage will add authenticity points. |
