RIP warcraft. :(

Warcraft 3 wasn't if you ask me, but I enjoyed WC2 a lot more. I wasn't big on the cartoony look, though I'm sure Blizzard chose that art style to make the game compatible with more systems. (it was a TA that offered up that point)

people say that every generation. still hasnt happened yet. yes, piracy is a huge huge issue, but what we're more likely to see is cross-platform development and im fine with that, as long as the PC version gets special treatment, just like bioware are doing with mas effect. you can't just copy games between systems without streamlining them for the specific platform.

in regards to exclusivity CONNERMAN2000, the competition will still be there, as will the fan desire for their system to play the game the best. there would just be no reason to own both systems, which is fine by me!! ;)

the only reason i want PC exclusivity is i dont want PC titles getting the console treatment, unless that treatment is reserved for the console title. seriously, having to use a gamepad to navigate menus (like in say fifa) gives me the rights s!! :D

and seriously, check this out

though the 360 version isnt forged alliance, it will include a lot of the code that makes it run much better than supcom did.

So whats your opinion on the new SecureROM protection in this game. Frankly I think this is just going to annoy legit customers (myself included), while the only bother to the dirty dirty pirates will be, that they will ahve to wait a week or to longer until a proper crack arrives for it. And when it does they wont be bothered by stupid securom problems, while the rest of us will either have to deal with it or crack our legally bought game. :whip:

Oh yeah, Spore will use the same copy protection. Wont that be just loads of fun.

Wow, this is great news. When is this expected to hit the PC?
Philby
yeah was reading that today pkc! :D really looking forward to it! can't wait! except i will have to lol

was reading about the change in copy protection after your sms, good move. the original thread on the bioware forums about it got to nearly 2000 replies in a week lol!!

if no copy protection is good enough for sins of a solar empire which is selling well, why isn't good enough for other companies? ;)

because sins has a multiplayer network where people are required to have valid keys. single player RPGs on the PC take it in the ass from pirates :(

still though, its a good move imo even though it wont bother me at all.
as for SecureRom, i believe it is only necessarily during install so im not worried about that either Moongoose. ive never had any issues with the more invasive programs like starforce, but i do hate having to switch between dvds :/
Moongoose
So the game came out for you yanks yesterday, anybody got it yet? If yes stfu about it, since us in the old world don't get it until next week :(

I hate that the release date and my next paycheck are so out of sync.

I've been reading up on the copy protection just now. Apparently you're only allowed to install this game 3 times for one purchase, and installation requires confirmation via internet. Securom was one thing - it was annoying as with splinter cell, but at least it was bearable. Now I'm not so sure I want to bother with this. This might end up just like my copy of HL2 that I paid 49.99 for and can't play anymore because I missplaced my steam password. 50 bucks in the trash. An installation limit is even worse, especially for someone like me who routinely goes through system sweeps and reorganisation. Not to mention, I don't feel particularly good about encouraging this kind of ty behavior from game corps. If the game is truly good then I'll want to play it for a long time. What garantee do I have that this activation mechanism is going to be up and running, say, five years from now? It's all too shifty, especially from a piece of company like EA.

there's no installation limit. you may install the game on 3 machines, but as many times as you like on those 3 machines. you only need to check the install once, so you install, it checks its a-ok and then that's it.

its far better than what we were gonna get, with a check every 12 days.

That's much better than what I'd heard.

yeah, well it was gonna check regularly but fans spat the dummy. so its now like bioshock, checks during install and then that's it. doesn't even require the DVD to play afterwards :)

pre-ordered mine already and it should be in my hands next week :) none of the gaming websites are selling it overseas yet so ill have to wait for a hard copy :/

this, GRID and alone in the dark in the next 30 days. exciting nerd times! :D
