Out of the three Armin shows i've been to, this was easily the best. had so much fun specially at the end. once the crowd lightened up, i had even more fun. unfortunately i left my Imagine cd that i planned to get signed in the car, so it's not signed :(. i did notice that the sound was kinda off, it wasn't bad, but you could tell it was off. still it was the best show i've been to and can't wait to do it all over again.
oh and Carlos, Tim tried to get to you, but the bouncer was being a jerk and just told Tim to go away. |

Like I told you. :) Most people do a tandem and spend the rest of their life doing other . It's the safest way to get the experience. The other way is playing the Passion mixset and playing freefly videos fullscreen with the volume down.:p
Getting licensed, or pursuing one, is NOT for everyone. It's a sport. Pull on time, flare on time, keep your head on a sviwel. If your inexperienced and you try to do something that requires skill, your going to get hurt. If your'e too COMPLACENT, will happen.
I have 164 jumps. 2 of them were night jumps. 1 of them was a low-altitude night jump from a helicopter. 9 of them I landed off field (winds/long spot). And 2 of them were emergency cutaways where I had to rely on my reserve chute. The reason I walked away alive and uninjured was NOT luck. It may have been if I had under 40 jumps in those situations. What it was, was me remaining calm and focused on what I had to do, to pull my ass out of the fire. Some people are incapable of relaxing. I had the advantage of a Marine Corps background but even many of them snapped under pressure. The sport is NOT for everyone. :) So it's okay.

Got there early to Catch everyone from start to finish. Remy was perhaps one of the best openers I have heard in a long long while. I know his sound has gotten a bit proggier from WAAY back in the day but after hearing his guest mix on the Trance Around the World show a while back I really dug it.
What can I say the man knew how to build a groove and keep people coming back for more. I loved it.
Armin came on and the crowd went nutso of course. This makes the 3rd time I've seen Armin and I will say this is definately the best of those 3 performances. I felt some of his choons were not exactly my cup of tea, but certainly not "bad". I liked all the new stuff and of course the throwbacks (Zocalo, and that [what I thought I heard] remix of 4-Strings Take Me Away) although I felt at times the sound got a little "crunchy" which usually co-incided with armin messing with the mixer so I'm assuming a little accidental "clipping/redlining" was happening. Still tho props to Mr. Ed "Spinfactor" on always bringing the booming sound.
All in all I had an absolutely awesome time. I bought VIP but spent all night in the middle of the dance floor hahahaa. Although I will admit the drinks were WAY better prepared when we bought up stairs (just stronger)
It was great seeing everyone out and meeting alot of new people. Thanks to 77002, Disco, and everyone who made the show possible.
This was the first time I've really gone out to a good show in a while and I plan on making it more of a habit. Ben, you and the rest of the 77002 guys have my full support! |
I really could not of said it better, so ^ what he said.
The perks of the night for me were all these goddamn aisian chicks that showed up halfway into it. I was like damn!! (to Matthew Dunn) "I wonder if they all work at the same massage parlor" hahaha
Running into alot of old friends was awesome. I would have stayed until the end but the sleep was really tugging at my eyelids. I only got a broken hour and a half of sleep before dragging my ass into a 10 hour OSHA course courtesy of Plumber's Union local 68 mandate for the $4 step-up. At least that's over with.
Looking forward to PvD this friday. |

My friend Alex did the 1800-SKYDIVE thing in Galveston, and I think this summer we are going to attempt it again. I chickened the hell out last summer, but this summer I think I'll go for it.
I think I'll have to call the pro, that is Matthias, to accompany us ;) |

I know man. That's the same guy who every ing time I'm at BarRio (considering I'm always there with Cory), thinks I'm some lame drunk trying to get backstage. The guy even saw me working earlier with the doods setting up speakers and stage sets and , and we even chatted a bit because I'd been bitching about my back hurting.
I guess that crack he smoked made him forget alot. :whip: |

Heheheh, I am far from being a pro at this. 164 seems like a high jump number to alot of whuffos, whereas to alot of the older skydogs, I'm still a newbie.
Carlos, I never saw myself making jump or pursuing a license or anything like that. Here's what I did. I went to the dropzone late in the day (there was a party that night), and I talked to ALL of the instructors, asked them every question I could think of regarding safety and training, and talked to an FAA master rigger about the gear. Those are the professionals. The way they answered my questions is what convinced me that making a tandem jump wasn't too bad of an idea.
Don't go to Spaceland. Its a great facility, but it aint the greatest place to make new friends. Skydive Houston in Waller has a much better vibe, friendlier instructors, and $20 cheaper on tandems and way cheaper on video probably. It's your call though. I get the weekends off, just send me a PM or hit me on myspace and I'll be glad to get on the same plane.:p |

Now I'm all excited about this. I'm looking at the website for that Skydive Houston place in Waller, and th eprices are pretty reasonable. I think I will plan a dive towards June or early July. Also, I totaly forgot that Alex will be in Mexico most of the summer, so I don't think he'll be able to come with.
One question though. What's the difference between AFF and Tandem? Is it an additional $99 added to the tandem $179, or is the video included in that price?
Also, I like that package they have for $288: Tandem jump, video, still shots, and shirt. |
