the best way to improve is by taping urself. u get to realize where ur mistakes are and what your doing wrong.

Except I've never seen people videotaping themselves while playing soccer, tennis, basketball, football, or skiing/snowboarding. There may be other sports that I have not seen that get taped a lot.

You don't land things you try all the time. It's essentially impossible to master a trick to the point where you can land it 100% of time in any circumstance (ie. any run or any variation of it). As per location, street skating is alot more marketable over park skating in terms of video's. The majority of professional video's out there are street skating.

Hmm.. well he was quite good at the ollieing/kickflip part. He nailed those 100% of the time I was watching, and he nailed the grinding part 0% of the time. It was obvious where his problem area was. To me, it would have made sense to practise just the grinding part (while videotaping it or not) till he did it right at least a couple of times, and then tape himself trying to do the whole run.

not all those sports are about form and if u look cool while you do it. skateboarding tricks depends on how it looks and the form you use. Just like breakdancing which is why you always see breakers taping themsleves when they practice

Interesting you mention this. In the 3 hours we were there, one skater lost control of his board and it flew into a woman's side prompting her to angrily leave the park; another lost control of his board and crashed into another woman talking on her phone, breaking her $500 phone (we could hear her bitching at him after), and also causing her to angrily leave the park. At a rate of at least 2 per day, I predict that by mid-summer they will have pissed off enough people to have skateboarding banned in that particular park.

Another instance I remember is when a group of BMXers decided to set up a taping session jumping off of stairs of Sid Smith building at the U of T campus. I was only there a brief period of time, but even in that period there were a couple of close calls with students walking by.

banning skateboards in parks wont' solve the problems.

allowing people to carry beating sticks and using them on skaters will

because nothing like pain to tell someone that you're a tard

I'm not up for it being banned, but its's obvious that this is what is going to happen if they keep injuring the people they skate around.

Most of the time these s8r kids are pretty inconsiderate. The UofT campus downtown is plagued by them. They don't really care how crowded it is and I've seen them lose control of themselves and their skateboard more than once.
