I have gone down to the shops, but I didn't have a listen, just looked. I don't think any were connected. Damn Dick Smith and JB hi-fi. I don't have much time to decide, I can get it with the US price, which is cheaper than in Australia. I have like 12 hours to decide, before my mom gets on a plane here.
I have been debating between these two for days, I can't decide. I do hate Apple though and I don't like how you are limited, but I do like the space. The Zen will be good for the gym b/c of the flash drive, so I am leaning towards that. I sit on City Rail too often, not by choice :whip:, I need something to keep me occupied as well... |

You can test run them if you ask the staff. You feel limited with the iPod? In what way? Seems like you've decided already anyway so go grab the Zen ;)
Oh and if you're catching the train in Sydney, you will DEFINITELY want the CX300s. You can get them from Apple stores, Dick Smith etc for about AU$70. |

| I NEVER use iTunes. On a mac it's pretty decent, on a windows machine it's absolutely house. MediaMonkey Gold ftw! |

stupid name, and they arent too bass heavy. perfect for EDM in most cases|
(pardon my gramamr, i am about to go to sleep) |
Bzzt! These are MEGA BASS HEAVY if you use the proper size tips. They come with three sizes, small, medium, and large. The smalls are on by default and they are wayyy too small for anyone but children.. Most of the sound will leak out of your ear canal if you use them. Try the medium or large tips for the earbuds and you will have a perfect fit...total noise isolation and a solid BOOM effect in your brain. They kick ass ;) |

I've had my 20 GB 4th generation iPod for 3.5 years now, it still works like new, except battery life has faded over the time. So... :) |

A trick I learned from experimenting - use the Sony EX-51 or EX-71 earbuds on the CX300's and you get even better sound isolation and bass. Furthermore, they stay in your ear better. The quite logical reason for this is that the rubber on the supplied CX300 earbuds are not as grippy and they are also thinner than the Sony's. |

I had a 3rd gen 40gb icrap, it crashed within 18 months of use (which is not much compared to my old Creative Zen 30gb, which lasted me over 3 years). |

if i were you, i would get an ipod nano. i have owned:
sony minidisc
sony netmd
classic ipod
nike mp3 player from the early days
transcend t.90
ipod nano
the ipod nano is the only one i have gotten good use out of. all the others were far too big. sure, they only hold 1-2gb, but that is plenty if you rotate your playlist once a week or so. these mega huge storage ones are just ridiculous imo. also, you will never take them to the gym. having something like that bouncing around in your pocket is a pain in the butt.
wat wat

+1 on the CX300s. best isolating earbuds on the market for that price! |
