Big ass space or kick ass location?

Going to buy myself a home. Should I get a one bedroom downtown or go to the burbs and get something twice the size? This is strictly about living conditions. I work midtown so have to commute about same distance regardless where I live.

At your age, you'd probably want something close to the clubs...

except for Regent Park. Or the random sketchiness you see on the streets sometimes ;)

you should probably factor in other things in your decision....

Transportation: Downtown - don't need a car, burbs - definitely need a car

Property Taxes: varies quite a bit from city to city

Convenience: where do you spend majority of your leisure hours?

Appreciation of your residence: Will the property appreciate better downtown, or in the burbs where you are looking

Length of stay: Are you planning on just a temporary move, or looking for long-term. Do you plan on starting a family some time soon?

Etc....there are tons of more factors that you should weigh in besides the Sq. Ft. of a place!

I would go with suburbs personally. I love living in Mississauga and only a 20min drive to downtown TO.

yea id rather live where I live now (etobicoke and about 10-15 mins away from downtown) than downtown but thats just me!

I love living downtown. I love being able to walk out my door and everything is right there without getting in a car. I'll sacrifice the space for that - in a big space, at this age, you inevitably end up filling it with stuff you don't need anyways.

well, when it comes down to resale, location will be worth more than space in the long run. Case in point — have you ever seen a condo in downtown go down in price over a 5 year period (unless it was bought brand new)?

But that's just my 2 cents.
