182 CDs. average 60-70 songs... perhaps, at normal 128-160kbps encoding, that's about 10 hours per CD of mp3s.
Total = 182*10 = 1820 hours
24 hours per day???
1820/24 = almsot 76 days!!!
2.5 months of tunes.
too bad they haven't come out with 200+ CD changers that read MP3 encoded discs yet, eh?

| I just make the names of the mp3's pretty.. no underscores, or crappy crap @ the end.. and then stuff em in the music/trance folder.. not too hard |

Klumsyboy uses napster for downloads so he has a mp3 folder on his desktop. In it are subfolders:
ntrance
ohappyhardcore
ohappyhardcore/bonkers
xdjmix
etc
so that
myfiles
and
incomplete are the ones at the beginning of the myfiles list when you click ont he button
I keep files in incomplete and myfiles for several days to be sure they are worthy of being moved into the folders.
If necessary, Ill use an mp3 editor to edit the djmixes so they are shorter in size and appeal to my tastes eg cut off the long slow boring intro so i have more space...my harddrive is always running out of space...i try to keep 100mb minimum free.by deleting mp3 i dont listen to much |

btw if you go to download.com
there is a nifty program you put in the mp3 folder which automatically lists (and has a link to your default mp3 player) in excel
which is handy if you dont want to keep typing all your mp3..i have 1000s and delete and download heaps every day so you have more time doing other things like looking at pretty pix instead of wasting time maintaining your mp3
and theres heaps of lovely free mp3 editors |

every "single" release (single meaning not an album or mix) i have listened to. i usually archive it all because i collect the music. but between mp3 cd #1-#80 i know every single track on the cd. that was before when cd's were more expensive. now a days i just burn everything i get. but im usually picky with what i d/l. 90% of my newer stuff is all dance/trance/house and live stuff. i stay away from rock or rap unless its someone i like "areosmith, dr. dre, etc"
only pain in the ass with so many cds, is now i have a 40 gig hd, so i wait until its full then i burn them all in a weekend.
if you think i have a lot think of this. i know a guy from an old channel who him his roomate collected as much music as they could. they have 783 mp3 cds (to date last month) that they have stored in a garage. 783 mp3 cds! but then again this guy is a rocker so its all rock & rap crap. but still 783! holly |

IMHO, DL music to burn to cd and collect doesnt make sense. cause:
1. 5-10 yrs ur music tastes will change.
2. 10-20 yrs mp3 and CDs will be obsolete. I know an uncle who bought a million records, now their antiques.
3. I rather spend my time enjoying listening to music rather than collecting it like full-time job. |

i hear ya igottaknow. some people just like collecting though. :) hehe.
the only reason i burn my trance choonz onto cds is so i have fresh sounds to listen to at school and when i'm not at home.
and my music taste will never change! MUAHA! ;) |

| As for trance, simply Trance, then divided into Trance2 and full mixes & CDs, then the others like drum n bass/house, reggae/junglist, rap/breakdance, game, anime, etc etc. |

| I'm just started a database where I'm entering song title, producer, DJ, cd and track number for every track on all my trance CD(not that I listen to any others). I got tired of hearing a song on a new CD and going, "I know this song. Where else have I heard it?" |

I usually organize bu the folowing
Singles
Cd's
Live
Singles 2,3
in the singles I have seperate Directories for fav artists who have more than 3 tracks
then I got
Trail traxx where I temporarily store tracks before I decide to keep them and I have over 150 hours of trance and it works pretty well
I organize my stuff alphabetically |
