ohh ok so like parasailing off of cliffs-

cliff diving is fun too :disbelief

I encourage anyone wanting to skydive to go for it, you will not regret it. I made my first jump on my 18th birthday, now over 800 jumps later, I still am doing it and loving it. Some good information has been passed along here, although there is more than one option to make your first jump. You can do Tandem (first picture), Accelerated Freefall or AFF (second picture), or static line (third pic). Each way has its own pros and cons as far as learning to jump. Most places now exclusively do AFF and Tandem. I learned initially and became an instructor for Static line, and then later taught AFF. I don't really instruct anymore because of my real job, but I still jump whenever I can. For my information or to find a place to go near you check out www.dropzone.com or www.uspa.org

These are just general pictures I got off dropzone.com to give you an idea of the training methods, I have a bunch of good ones I have taken but don't have up online anywhere to link to.

I didn't even know they allowed static line for first time jumpers. When my sister and I were calling places, no one did it. They all did tandem only for first timers.

Most smaller dropzones (the ones that only have a Cessna 182 or something for a jump plane) will still do static line. Up until recently, it was by far the most popular (and cheapest - the reason I did it this way in college) way to train for a license.

Never actually "Skydived" but I am a paratrooper does that count? Granted its a C130 at 1800 feet but its still a rush.

ALWAYS wanted to do a HALO jump at around 15,000 that would be so bad ass.
