Which is exactly what I think side projects are for, exploring different genres. |

It wasn't really a joke, more a crude way of saying that it's impossible to please everybody. If you change your sound you get people who are displeased but if you always use the same formula you also get frowned upon. And yes that is lame but one of those things you can't escape from anymore as a producer since the internet took control of music.
Nothing unprofessional to now and than point this out on a quiet sunday night I think, certainly because my opinion is shared by everyone else in the music industry ;)

Point taken, man. But when you have trance n00bs looking up to you like AGQ over here you should probably watch how you say things a little more 'cuz it can come back to you. Just sayin':) |

i guess ur referring to jonas steur's alias evil robot? i dont like it either, its more techno then trance. i like his more trancey stuff. |
No, I quite like the new Evil Robot stuff. I'm all for trying new things or "evolving" or "moving forward" and it's great Jonas is doing it under a different alias. But I was referring to the general direction and sound of ALL productions since the album.

That is a point I did not take into consideration, and you are very correct in saying that.
But while you are changing your sound could you please try to return to your roots once in a while because after all that is what made everyone become a fan in the first place. I know you mentioned before it's impossible to satisfy everyone but could you maybe try once in a while to produce all-round (maybe with the help of your aliases)? ;)
Hate to sound like a suck up but it would definitely be appreciated.
Thanks for being on TA anyway lol. :happy2: |

Stoneface & Terminal, i like their harder stuff: Soulreaver, Merkur and even Incognition.
Infected Mushroom: nuff said
Giuseppe Ottaviani: i really liked his stuff when it sounded like Nu NRG. but Nu NRG is dead. his colabrations with pvd suck IMO. but some of his older tines are sweet: Reload, Clambake,Until Monday, Dave202 - Inside Outside (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) |

Giuseppe Ottaviani started off fantastic, but hasn't really done much else since..
I think Ferry Corsten is the only consistent trance producer. Everything he remixes or produces is gold, well apart from the 'Race'....
I would agree def with MarcoV and also add Picotto, I know they both have their different styles now, but I use to love their old productions but don't think much to either of them now.
Armin and Tiesto are going down hill.. Even if they are getting more commercial, I still think the quality of tracks has massivley decline. Armins new album was a joke and Tiestos elements of life seemed massivley rushed. Shame. |

Quite funny, now I have people wanting me to go back to the 'old pre intuition estuera' days, people wanting me to go back to the castamara / silent waves days , people wanting me to do another fall to pieces, people who never liked my older works but love the new tracks and vise versa etc etc...
That's why I just do my thing , cause if I start trying to please all those people all the time I'll get the biggest writers block in history ;) I just hope some fans will follow the journey with me and that the listeners I loose get replaced by new ones along the way, which seems to be the way it goes. |
I agree 100% with you Mr Steur. It just sucks when you admire such good tracks from a certain artist and you keep expecting them and they never come. but if you always stick to the same sound the very same people who wants you to stick to it will complain that you always re-use the same sounds/melodies over and over again.. can't please everyone !
btw I'm one of those who loves the castamara / silent waves / second turn days ;) |
